Stephanie L. Price, DO, LLC
Welcome, and thank you for visiting my site. My practice is located in Avondale at the beautiful, newly remodeled, Schoolhouse in West Ashley, SC. Numerous self care services are coincidentally offered in this same building. Outside, it harbors a gorgeous community garden, with a view from my window. No cost to park and availability has never been an issue.
Seeking support for mental health is a courageous step. Whether you have participated in prior treatment, or are taking this step for the first time, I am honored to be part of your journey.
I am a board-certified psychiatrist in the state of SC, as well as Indiana (completed my residency at IU). My background includes extensive training with adults, and additional specialized training in children and adolescents at MUSC.
My hope is to create a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment. Whether meeting in person at the office, by secure virtual sessions, my goal is to help each individual feel heard, understood, respected, and empowered on their path toward improved health, and overall well-being.
Clients often come to us for help in the following areas:
Anxiety related disorders
Affective Mood Disorders, including major depression and bipolar disorder
OCD and related disorders — tics, Tourette’s, body focused repetitive behaviors (BFRB)
ADHD - inattentive type, hyperactive & impulsive type, and combined subtype, difficulty with organization, processing information, procrastination, lack of impulse control, forgetfulness, poor motivation, impaired focus, easily distracted, including lack of task initiation and task completion, and struggles with executive functioning (which can be detrimental, especially while driving if not therapeutically treated for ADHD).
Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, and similar conditions.
Navigating neurodivergence, ASD, for example.
I also enjoy working with substance abuse and substance dependence. My latest interests include: life transitions, pre planning for pregnancy, gestation, and postpartum timeframe, the emotional waves of hormonal fluctuations. HRT for men and women, though I’m far from an expert. I deep dive into assessing and managing the B12 and folate pathways, vitamin D, thyroid, metabolic labs, among others.
My initial evaluations occur with a full history and physical exam, patient’s endorsed symptoms, (including vitals, and an MSE), past psychiatric records as well as any collateral (ie. from a partner/ family/friends/other providers/caregivers, and legal guardians) who can speak on patient’s behalf, (in office, by phone, or virtually) - with lab monitoring, vitals, scales, diagnostic assessments, and a final treatment plan based on the provider’s recommendations.
Life transitions also span, preschool through 12th grade (navigating middle school), secondary education, and ongoing advanced education, career, or simply feeling stuck in an overstimulated, environment, between jobs, with endless choices, but don’t know where to start. When we get started, is always the right time - if you find we are a good fit, you feel invited and welcomed in my presence, and - most importantly - have a safe space that invites the opportunity for growth and transformation.
Healing is not linear, but I’m committed to accompanying you on this journey to self reflection and self discovery. Any time is the right time, truly, as long as you show up ready to explore, to learn, to grow:)
Outside of work, I enjoy salsa dancing, learning Spanish, leisure reading, comedy, Broadway shows, dabble in learning about plants, and spending time with my dog, Roo. I was a former division 1 athlete, tennis player at UMASS, but have since traded in my racquets for dance shoes and anything related to the Latin culture.
