Developmental trauma (experiences as we grow, including our family of origin) shapes how we see the world, sometimes unsafe and challenging to navigate. Our attachments are the foundations in which we trust or find conflict. Developmental trauma may manifest in the body as anxiety, stress, distress, relationship difficulties, depression and more. There is healing to be found here, to be understood and nourished. Well done on the first step in a journey toward wellness. The most important aspect of therapy is finding a person who makes you feel safe and heard. I look forward to collaborating. I have training and experience in working with trauma, family of origin/generational cycles, attachment disruptions, complicated grief and loss, sexuality, sex work and with LGBTQAI+ persons. I love working through emotions, trauma and somatic experiencing. I am Level I Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy trained. I enjoy working with and understanding folx from their perspective; I work with singles, couples, non-monogamous consensual relationships and families. I provide a safe, unassuming space in which you can find felt safety. I appreciate the eclectic person you are and would like to help you identify your own cracks, so that you can let your own light in. Women who find me often describe feeling disconnected from themselves in ways that are hard to explain. Most are in their 20s, many of whom are Latina, navigating identity shifts and redefining who they are after major life transitions. They may have ambition, potential, and clear goals, yet still feel held back by something invisible. That “something” often goes by many names: depression, low self-worth, insecure attachment, abandonment and rejection wounds, and unresolved relational trauma from childhood. My approach has two phases. First, we begin with depth-oriented, insight-driven work—making the unconscious conscious and getting to the root of your experiences. Once we understand the why, we shift into a more practical, change-oriented phase. Here we begin to reconstruct your inner world and sense of self in noticeable ways: reshaping your belief system, identifying priorities, developing healthier habits, letting go of self-sabotage, and learning how to stop abandoning yourself. I care about offering something more lasting than a way to cope. The woman you’re becoming isn’t someone you have to create from scratch; you are already her. Let’s find your way back to yourself.

Hi there! I'm Colleen and a Licensed Psychologist and serve college students in the Bay Area. One thing I know for sure: college is hard so kudos to you for reaching out for support! There are various reasons we engage in therapy that may warrant different approaches/interventions. Clients have shared what they appreciate most about working with me is my "realness"; ability and willingness to relate and share (after all we are all cultural beings with emotions, thoughts and experiences); empathic directness; motivating nature; flexibility; and laughter (as appropriate of course!).
You may be feeling marginalized or misunderstood by your church community and loved ones if your gender or sexuality don't fall into historically traditional norms. Or you might feel alone in your process if you are deconstructing your faith because there isn't a safe space to express doubts or ask faith-related questions. Or you might be feeling completely burned out in your ministry leadership role with nowhere to turn. If any of these scenarios describe you, you need a safe space to fully express all aspects of who you are and what you're experiencing in order to align with your values.
Students seek me out because they are searching for more than just a place to vent. We will work collaboratively and creatively in order to cultivate a deep level of healing and wellbeing within you that is not dependent upon specific circumstances. In therapy you'll learn to use life's challenges as portals to true self-care and wellbeing. My job is to empower you to be your own, wise healer. I'm looking forward to meeting you!
