Hi! I am a 2nd generation Taiwanese American woman who specializes in providing culturally-attuned psychotherapy to ethnic minority populations. Areas of clinical expertise include mood disorders, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, family conflict, intergenerational trauma, and minority stress. I am passionate about working with clients who find themselves dissatisfied with where they are in their relationships with themselves, with others, or with life in general and are looking for a change. I love to work with individuals who are driven to develop more insight into who they are and why they engage in certain patterns of emotion and behavior over and over again in order to move towards more fulfilling and healthy patterns. I specialize in providing culturally-attuned therapy to diverse, ethnic minority populations. The field of psychology is still largely White dominated, and I take pride in providing culturally-attuned psychotherapy for ethnic minority patients where we incorporate cultural stigma, intergenerational trauma, minority stress, and more into our work together. Life can be so complicated and challenging to navigate alone! Your presence here tells me that a part of you wants to seek safety, harbor connection, and to grow as a person. Finding a therapist who is a good fit can be very challenging. I would love to chat with you briefly over the phone to see if we would be a good fit to work together towards your goals.

I have over 35 years experience as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I offer compassionate, competent, and convenient therapeutic services to individuals, couples and families. The counseling I do tends to be shorter than most "traditional" therapy and is solution-focused in which we work on your goals and how to make changes in your life now. As with most counseling, the past is important, but I tend to help you work on how you can make your situation better today and in the future rather than spending many years re-examining the past. Issues clients typically bring in include stress, career/school issues, transitions, self-esteem, addictions, identity issues, relationship concerns, ACA/co-dependency and family issues. Besides my counseling practice, I have been an Adjunct Professor of Family Psychology at a local graduate school and run workshops for psychotherapists throughout the year. Please feel free to call me at 510/527-4011, or e-mail me, if you have any questions about my work or your particular needs. My website, www.franwickner.com , also has more information.

While I see people for many types of reasons, I usually see clients individually that are looking to work on a present centered issue. These typically include school issues, work stress, relationship problems, or difficulty coping with anxiety / depression symptoms. In graduate school I was part of the sports psychology department. During this time I assisted in two different research studies. The first examined flow states in athletes (getting in "the zone"). The second study examined the effects of concussions in athletes. I draw upon these experiences to help students focus and stay motivated. I also had a side job in graduate school where I helped coach college students that had difficulty adjusting to college life. These practical, real world skills are something I continue to teach to this day. When meeting with a client, I keep the atmosphere relaxed and inviting. I want people to feel comfortable, but also know they are receiving "evidence based" care. This means what I say in our meetings is supported by research. That is why I use treatments that incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness techniques. These treatments are supported by current research and have a high rate of success.

Human sexuality is an endless source of self-knowledge through which we tap into our subconsciousness. In most people it is suppressed and hidden from our conscious minds due to the rigid cultural and religious belief systems along with our personal beliefs. Learning about ourselves through our sexual expressions will help some of us obtain wisdom and knowledge about who we are. Most of non-sexual issues stem from unhealthy self-perceptions, specifically from denying our own sexuality and freedom to express ourselves sexually. Ability to fully realize ourselves comes from expanding our consciousness through exploring our sexuality and sensuality.

If you are struggling with any of these, you are in the right place...people-pleasing, inner criticism, addictive behaviors, trauma, challenges setting and enforcing boundaries, worrying what others think about you, challenges in relationships, low self-esteem, worry of failure, high self-expectations, overfilling your plate and stress, detachment from self with substances, food, work, people, etc., and feeling powerless and alone. And, here you are seeking help, which takes courage. I recommend trying out multiple therapists to find the best fit, starting with consultations. Contact me for a 20 minute consultation, free of charge. Through compassion, authenticity, validation, and creativity, I create a protected space for healing, expression, and self-exploration. I also use mindfulness, expressive arts therapy, strength-based, and trauma-based approaches. I have a life-long commitment to social justice and I continuously work towards cultural humility. I am cis-gendered Chicana/White & LGBTQI with a lived experience of healing & recovery. Feel free to contact me with questions and to schedule a (free) 20-minute video or phone consultation to see if we are a good fit. I'm here to support you in your journey towards liberation, self-acceptance, self-love, healing, and growth. https://www.rosinaroibalmft.com/

Hey, I’m Kayla If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, burnt out, or like your brain just won't turn off — you're not alone. Whether you're navigating adulting, college pressure, trauma, identity stuff, or mental health struggles that won’t go away, I’m here to help you figure it out — step by step. I work with young adults (18–24) who are dealing with anxiety, depression, past trauma, substance use, or just a general feeling of “what now?” Therapy with me is a collaborative space where you can explore your story, build practical tools, and feel more in control of your life — without judgment. My Therapy Style My approach is real, supportive, and skills-based. I’ll meet you where you are — no pressure to “fix” anything overnight. You’ll find that I’m curious, empathetic, and genuine — I believe in showing up as a human, not a cold clinical voice. We'll look at what's working and what’s not, figure out how your past may be influencing your present, and build tools to help you manage stress, emotions, and relationships more confidently. If you are reading this you are likely ready for a shift or change in your life. How to proceed in creating a more satisfying life is often confusing, but it is possible. If we listen deeply and compassionately enough to the wisdom of our body and mind the obstacles to our wholeness can become the catalysts of deeper awareness, meaning, agency and fulfillment. I aim to help you explore both the known and unknown parts of yourself so that you can more easily navigate your inner world, your relationships with others and the complex demands of being human.
