I work primarily with young adults and adults navigating substance use concerns and related mental health challenges. My therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with a strong emphasis on skills-based interventions, relapse prevention, and collaborative treatment planning. I utilize a trauma-informed and strengths-based framework to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, build healthier coping strategies, and increase emotional regulation. I have experience supporting individuals in early recovery, those working toward sustained sobriety, and clients managing co-occurring substance use and mental health concerns. I provide individual therapy and psychoeducation, and I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space that promotes accountability, insight, and long-term change. I work with clients from all religious and spiritual backgrounds and respect each client’s beliefs, integrating them into treatment when clinically appropriate.
Although the road to wellness is not linear, there is hope, and change is possible. Depression and anxiety, worry, stress, and feeling overwhelmed- these are all familiar concerns and normal in the human experience. We've all experienced it. Sometimes they can be difficult to manage and that's when talk therapy can be incredibly useful. But most important: I'm glad you're here. Let's build a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Life is hard. Although I am not a specialist in Life itself, there are ways to balance and recalibrate ourselves with therapy tools. These tools have helped me and others I've served in the past. As an Asian American, LGBTQ+ identifying therapist, my experience may offer a unique perspective that helps you feel connected and heard. I offer a straightforward style with authenticity and real connection. Although this may be intimidating for clients who are new to therapy, it is a bridge that when crossed clients find satisfying and rewarding. The first step to reaching out and connecting is by call or email, and I look forward to hearing from you.
You might seem like you’re holding it all together, but inside feel overwhelmed or disconnected. Many high-achieving students carry the weight of expectations from family, culture, and society. That pressure can leave you exhausted, unsure of yourself, and out of touch with your own needs. I create space for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, neurodiverse, and other historically marginalized students to slow down and be known, accepted, and supported as their full selves. I help students work through identity questions, relationship concerns, stress, burnout, imposter feelings, and the impact of trauma. My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. You’ll have space to explore the deeper roots of what you're carrying while also building real-world tools to feel more grounded, empowered, and connected. You don’t have to figure it all out alone. Working with me means having a steady, supportive space where you can be real, ask hard questions, and grow at your own pace. We’ll focus on what matters most to you while exploring who you are and what you need to feel more whole. As a therapist, I take a collaborative approach with patients to relieve distress, improve well-being, and develop new insights. Together, we will identify patterns in living that you want to change, and discover how prior experiences have shaped your emotional life, relationships, and behavior, perhaps in ways that are outside of your awareness. I treat patients who experience anxiety, depression, difficulties in relationships, challenges related to work and career, and stress that is related to life transitions. My approach to therapy is interactive and open-ended, with a focus on helping you to learn about yourself and to find new, more fulfilling ways of living. With all of my patients, I work to build a relationship that holds the potential for you to discover new possibilities for yourself. I seek to have a practice that is diverse with regard to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, and ability/disability status. The process of therapy includes exploration of all aspects of identity, including how both marginalization and privilege shape experience. This exploration includes processing how identity is experienced in the therapeutic dyad, and understanding how similarities and differences between the patient and therapist shape the therapeutic process. I welcome hearing from you to discuss the possibility of setting up an initial consultation. Together, we can determine if I can meet your needs as a therapist.
