Central to the therapy process is connecting with someone with whom you can openly explore your past and present; thoughts, feelings, and wishes. As a therapist I am committed to helping you understand the important experiences and patterns that have influenced your life and begin to find openings for new insights and greater meaning. This can allow for personal growth, more fulfilling relationships, and improved coping with difficulties. My style is collaborative, supportive and interactive. My approach involves both facilitating personal exploration and helping you find new strategies for managing difficulty. People who come to see me are often struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, eating/body image concerns, or struggling with transitions in young adulthood
Hello, Let me introduce myself and my work. I am a psychologist who is guided by my theoretical ideas of collaboration and developing therapeutic dialogue with my clients. What is foremost, however, is my effort to understand the ideas, values and experiences that are important to my clients. I often incorporate therapeutic writing in my work and have published my work in this area. In addition to my clinical work, I have a long history of teaching at the college level and training and supervision of mental health professionals.I work with clients who are experiencing problems with anxiety, depression, relationship and family issues. I have worked with people of all ages with numerous presenting problems.
I have a specialty working with young adults. It is one of my favorite populations to work with. I am now offering telehealth appointments, feel free to be in contact for a consultation.

I help my clients acquire skills in reading themselves and learning how to re-adjust if things stray off-course. I hope to help clients foster self-compassion and acceptance. It is an honor to bear witness to someone else's story. I use a gentle, direct, and nonjudgmental approach involving reflection, questions, and humor. Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or hopeless? Emotions running wild? Past traumas haunting your present? As a trained therapist, I specialize in addressing underlying issues swiftly. With warmth and empathy, I'll create a safe space for you to overcome these struggles and transition from simply surviving to thriving. As a therapist, I act as an emotional support, teacher, and guide on the client’s journey so they gain the skills, insight, and confidence they need. I firmly believe that everyone has the capacity to grow and heal from whatever they have experienced in life. I am trained in EMDR which is a powerful therapy technique that can facilitate the reprocessing of traumatic or negative experiences. It reduces emotional distress and promotes healing, leading to improved emotional well-being and a greater sense of empowerment. I am also trained in IFS, which is a transformative therapy approach that helps individuals understand their emotional struggles. It views the mind as a system of different parts, each with its own unique role and purpose. By fostering self-awareness and compassion, IFS allows individuals to develop a harmonious relationship with their internal parts leading to increased self-acceptance, improved emotional regulation, and a greater sense of wholeness and inner peace.
The most important factor for effective therapy is the relationship between the therapist and the client. My goal is to build an empathetic and trustworthy relationship with you, so we can work through the issues that are motivating you for treatment in the first place. You are the expert of your own life - I can serve as a guide to help reveal the kind of life you are seeking. Many of us are disappointed by our past decisions, trapped in our current circumstances, or paralyzed with fear of the future. This can lead to behaviors that aren't helpful and create patterns that lead to anxiety, depression, or general unhappiness. Together, we will examine these behaviors, thought patterns, and emotions, and we will work together in finding out what works for you and how to easily engage in helpful and effective behaviors that propel you into the way you want to exist in the world.
