My goal is to deliver evidence-based treatments for the disorders in which I specialize in a collaborative and empathetic way. I'm a graduate of the Advanced Behavior Treatment Training Institute of the IOCDF, trained in ERP and ACT as well as standard CBT. I offer COMB/HRT for trichotillomania and excoriation, and CBIT for Tourette disorder. I'm a certified ADHD professional. I enjoy helping students learn to manage their executive functioning challenges and anxiety, depression, and OCD and related disorders, so they can succeed academically and enjoy the rich opportunities of college life.
I am currently offering EMDR Intensive sessions to accelerate healing. I am a certified EMDR clinician, specializing in trauma and attachment work. I value the therapeutic relationship and believe that clients need to feel safe enough in therapy in order to dig deep and do the work. While I work with adolescents through adulthood, I work primarily with women ages 18-50.

I consider the relationship between client and therapist one of the most important factors in therapy. As a therapist, my goal is to create a comfortable, non-judgmental space so I can assist others in exploring negative patterns in their lives and help them develop new tools to foster positive coping skills. I utilize a holistic approach to therapy, with special focus on the body and mind and how they interact. As a registered yoga teacher, my treatment approach places emphasis on turning inward and reconnecting with the body to help release stored emotions. I use a trauma-informed approach to life issues with clients and incorporate mindfulness skills, somatic movement, and breathwork into my therapy practice. I specialize in treating anxiety disorders, PTSD, and mood disorders. Additionally, I work with clients who are experiencing grief and loss, life transitions, addiction, caregiver stress, interpersonal/relationship problems, and codependency.

I am a social worker focused primarily on helping those with a wide variety of mental health concerns. With a background in therapeutic communities, I believe it is essential to protect the dignity and humanity of a patient no matter the extent of their suffering. My work is guided by psychoanalysis and phenomenology, which allow me to collaboratively explore the meaning of one's difficulties with a patient in the context of their life to alleviate rather than manage symptoms. I pride myself on work with clients who are apprehensive about therapy, have stalled in therapy in the past, are skeptical of modern paradigms of mental health, have had unusual experiences or have unusual spiritual beliefs, have been called too smart for their own good or have otherwise been made to feel difficult.

āPVD Psychological Associates (PVD Psych) is a private psychology practice on the East Side of Providence, Rhode Island. Our mission is to provide the greater Rhode Island area with exceptional therapy, offering cutting edge and research-supported treatment by a team of highly trained therapists. We offer therapy for adults, college students, and adolescents struggling with anxiety, school/career concerns, eating disorders, infertility and women's health issues, and relationship difficulties. PVD Psych is a LGBTQIA-affirmative practice, and is one of few Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island LGBTQ Safe Zone certified providers. We strongly believe that everyone has the right to respectful and affirming, high quality care. My areas of specialization and interest include: women's issues, depression, anxiety, stress management, and working with LGBTQIA-identified individuals and family members. I practice primarily from a relational-dynamic perspective, though I also incorporate techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and narrative approaches to address and tailor treatment to the unique and individual needs of each client. In my work as a therapist, I focus on understanding early experiences and how psychological well-being can be fostered through relationships. I believe change and healing come through relationships: our relationships with ourselves, as well as our relationships with others. I view therapy as a collaborative process that allows both therapist and client to grow and change. ā My clients describe me as an empathetic, active listener who approaches their concerns with caring, respect, pragmatism, and sometimes, humor. I'm honored that you're considering working with me and I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have. Please feel free to contact me.
