Therapists for college students near 02139
Hello! I am currently ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS in RI, MA, and CT! It’s important to have a connection with someone who can help you work through difficult emotions. Oftentimes, we go through life on auto-pilot without ever learning how to manage stress or how to overcome new challenges. I am here to be present with you every step of the way, so that you can do the things you couldn't do before. I primarily work with undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral students. I particularly enjoy working with people who are struggling with social phobia, self-esteem, depression and anxiety. I have been working with college students over the past seven years. In our work together, I will spend time getting to know you and your long-term goals. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is essential. My clinical style is supportive and collaborative. I am flexible in tailoring treatment to suit your needs, with a primary emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. At Compassionate Healing, I offer you evidence-based therapy to help you become your “best self.” I incorporate different therapy styles that have been proven in research to be effective in treating various mental health problems. Colorful Resilience is a Queer-Afro-Latina-owned outpatient mental health services office in West Springfield, Massachusetts. We proudly provide therapy – primarily, but not exclusively – to BIPOC, LGBTQ+, First Generation, and immigrant folks. For clients in the Western MA area, we offer in-person consultations and virtually for those all across Massachusetts. Due to a lack of clinical representation and cultural competency in the mental health field, the BIPOC, LGBTQ+, First Generation, and immigrant communities have historically been underserved. Colorful Resilience hopes to remedy such disparity by ensuring all our team members are representatives of the communities we serve, fearless allies, or both. Not only utilizing education but also lived experiences to provide the most relevant behavioral health services.
You're not alone—and you don't have to figure it all out by yourself. Reaching out for help can be one of the hardest and bravest decisions we make. If you’re here, it likely means something in your life isn’t working the way you’d like—and that awareness is an important first step. I want you to know I see the courage it takes to even start looking for a therapist. I work with folks facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, and major life transitions. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed by day-to-day stress, stuck in a cycle of negative thoughts, or navigating a significant change in your life, I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space where we can explore what’s going on and find ways forward that feel right for you. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in practical tools that you can take with you outside of therapy. I tailor our sessions to meet your unique needs and pace. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you reach out. If you're ready to take that next step, I’m here to walk alongside you.
Dr. Kitty Wong is a psychiatric physician based in Medway, MA, who has over twenty years of experience helping individuals and families with complex mental health needs. She completed her fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Harvard affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean Hospital program in 2005 and served as a Clinical Instructor at the Harvard Medical School after graduation for several years. Dr. Wong is the founder of Moxie Psychiatric Services and has held leadership roles as a child psychiatrist consultant and medical director at various organizations. Dr. Wong's initial consultation appointments typically take anywhere from 90 min up to 2 hours ($1500) depending on how complex a person's history and current needs are. Follow up appointments are usually about 25min ($300). Longer appointments lasting 40 min are $450, and complex appointments that last up to 60 min are $600. Dr. Wong welcomes students who are on the fence and have questions about psychiatric medication as well as those who are open and ready to get started. Students who are seeking treatment impacted by substance abuse will not find her to be a good fit for their needs as this is not an area of expertise.
Whether you're working through past traumas, seeking clarity amidst life's transitions, or desiring deeper connections, you deserve a therapeutic experience that genuinely resonates with you. As your therapist, my goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where we can collaborate to improve your mental well-being, enrich your relationships, and uncover greater purpose and joy in your life. I specialize in working with young adults and individuals navigating transitions through client-centered and solution-focused methods. My practice integrates DBT and art therapy, offering a blend of talk and creative therapies. This flexible approach allows us to tailor sessions to your individual needs, fostering a supportive environment to address your unique challenges.
I specialize in working with those struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety and life transitions. I believe relationships matter, knowing that change can only happen when you feel supported and valued. Together, we will work to understand your needs in a judgment-free environment and identify the exact tools that can help you to manage life stressors. I use a a systems-based perspective in my practice, which considers the smaller pieces of our lives that add up to who we are as a person. Think of it like baking- all the ingredients (systems) come together to make the cake (the whole person). In our work together we will identify the specific systems that are impacting your well-being and how you can use you own power to adjust these systems as needed. I use DBT skills, CBT skills and mindfulness-based interventions to help us understand how to best support your systems. I am caring and compassionate, working alongside you to reach your best self. I know that every person is deserving of reaching their highest potential and find it an honor and a privilege to be a part of the process. I am currently providing Telemed therapy in Connecticut and Massachusetts. I look forward to being a part of your healing journey!
I became a therapist to bring my passion for helping others into a space where you can feel truly comfortable, supported, and understood. My goal is not just to create that feeling within our sessions, but to help you carry it into your life and relationships. When we work together, you’ll find me walking alongside you, offering guidance and support as we explore what empowers you and helps you feel more confident in who you are. I’m here to encourage you, celebrate your progress, and help you build a stronger, more authentic connection with yourself and the world around you.
I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist, and I feel privileged to help those struggling with mental health issues. I understand that there is still a stigma surrounding mental health, and I strive to ensure my patients feel understood during our appointments. Building rapport and getting to know my patients beyond just their diagnoses is central to my approach to care. I have experience treating patients in various settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, emergency departments, and medical hospitals. I believe that the best outcomes usually occur when medications and therapy are used together. While I enjoy treating all psychiatric illnesses, I have a particular affinity for personality disorders and substance use disorders. I also have experience addressing mental health issues during and after pregnancy. I completed my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Biology at Laurentian University, followed by medical training at Ross University School of Medicine. I then completed my psychiatry residency, serving as chief resident, at the University of North Dakota in Fargo.
I have experience helping people overcome obstacles around executive dysfunction (having a hard time keeping or remembering tasks and appointments, turning in assignments in full, and overall managing daily expectations and obligations), adjusting to new life transitions, and managing anxiety and depression symptoms. I use a variety of methods to introduce clients to the sometimes uncomfortable part of therapy and accountability.
Healing begins with a trusting therapeutic relationship and a safe, supportive space where you can explore and practice new skills. While you bring your unique life experiences, I offer compassion, validation, and a range of evidence-based approaches to support you in making the changes needed to live a more balanced, adaptive, and fulfilling life. My background in community mental health includes working with teenagers, young adults, and families. I have experience working with school-age children through adulthood, supporting individuals with trauma histories, mood disorders, anxiety, substance use, and body image concerns. I especially enjoy working with young adults looking to gain more independence and autonomy.

We’ll work together to figure out what matters most to you, make sense of your experiences, and find practical ways to cope. You can start moving forward with more clarity, confidence, and ease, all at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I’m passionate about helping people work through anxiety, depression, cope with loss, and embrace their authentic selves. My approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and strength-based therapy, helping you recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck while drawing on your natural resilience and inner strengths. I’m a Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist (CAGCS) dedicated to helping individuals navigate grief, loss, and major life transitions with compassion and care. Using the TEAR Model—which focuses on Telling your story, Experiencing the pain, Adjusting to life without your loved one, and Reinvesting in new relationships and goals. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is built for students like you—maybe you’re a Merrimack Warrior stressed out from exams and turning to drinking or drugs to cope, or a commuter student from Lawrence feeling trapped by a gambling habit that’s spiraled out of control. We connect best with those who are juggling school, work, or campus vibes but finding that substance use or betting is throwing them off track. We’re a great fit for students who are ready to face the mess—whether it’s partying too hard to numb the pressure, skipping classes because of a hangover, or losing cash you can’t afford on bets—and want to get back to feeling steady without dropping everything. Located just a couple miles from Merrimack College in North Andover, we’re easy to reach from Andover, Methuen, or Haverhill, and we’ve got your schedule covered with morning, afternoon, and evening IOP sessions. Got daytime classes? Our evening options let you hit the books during the day and get support after. With flexible sessions to match your life—mornings for early risers, afternoons for between-class gaps, or evenings to keep your days free—we’re here to help you break free from addiction and get back to thriving. Ready to take control and still keep your college groove? We’re just down the road.
We know that searching for a therapist can be one of the most difficult parts of coping, healing, and self-empowerment, because it's the first thing you must do. You must force yourself out of your comfort zone and out of whatever routine you've had before, to take the initiative and embark on a new path. When we're at our best, stepping out of our comfort zones can be daunting; when we're feeling vulnerable, it can seem nearly impossible. No matter what prompted you to take this first step, we'd like to be there for your second. Our clinicians focus on creating an empathic environment where you feel safe and relaxed, and where we can use every tool available to brighten your present and empower your future.
