Do you ever just want someone to talk to who is not judgmental, and will offer sound advice for no other reason than wanting you to feel better? My sole job is to help you feel heard, understood and supported in whatever area in which you are struggling. I have helped people for over 25 years make their way to a more stable and healthier spot in life. Whether you are struggling with OCD, stress, depression, trauma or just not quite feeling settled, set up a time to talk.
Thank you for taking some time to pause to explore ways to care, understand, or face yourself. During this season of you life, you may be trying to simply survive or get through each day the best ways you can. I welcome the opportunity to be part of your journey of what wellness, healing, and resetting looks like for you. As a Black and Haitian American psychologist, I recall how important it was for me to find myself and community that affirmed my intersecting identities while I attended a community college and transferred to a university. Please reach out if I can be of support.
Hi, I’m Marlena. I’m a multicultural, bilingual (Spanish-speaking) therapist who helps women navigating life transitions, relationships, and the pressure to hold it all together. You’re the one everyone relies on, but deep down, you’re craving space to slow down, breathe, and feel like yourself again. I bring warmth, humor, and authenticity to every session. This is your space to exhale, be seen, and start feeling more at ease.
I specialize in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic therapy; these approaches are particularly suited for such issues as coping with losses, reducing self-criticism, increasing relationship fulfillment and bolstering creativity. Often, I work with people whose prior therapy experience(s) was symptom-oriented or brief but who found themselves wondering if there is something more. I also often work with people in academia, such as graduate students and post-docs. I am particularly passionate about graduate student mental health and am aware of the unique stressors often faced by doctoral students, as well as the factors that make it more challenging to reach out for support. I am aware of the ways that concerns pertaining to identity, belonging and family of origin often begin to come to the fore when one finds themselves in a new environment and/or a new academic/professional endeavor.
Inevitably, life presents difficulties, and can be challenging for many different reasons. Sometimes the things that bring people to therapy are very specific: perhaps a major life transition has become overwhelming, or certain patterns within a relationship are starting to take a toll. Pressures in some particular setting, whether it is at school, at work, or at home, may be feeling too difficult to navigate alone. Other times, people come to therapy a little less certain, feeling confused and unsure about where their life is headed, wanting something more. It’s not always easy to answer the question, “What brings you here?” People tend to doubt their inner strengths, and don’t quite realize how many resources they in fact possess. I have found that, though conversation with a trusted person, people can more easily identify and then build on those strengths. In my work with children, we often talk about expanding their “toolbox,” so that they have the skills to better manage overwhelming emotions and navigate complicated social situations. With teenagers and young adults, we often find ourselves talking about questions of identity development - the process of learning about who we are, how we got there, and what we want for ourselves moving forward. I see growth and development as a lifetime process, and, in my work with adults, we address all these issues in increasingly varied and complex ways, while also working together to navigate complex challenges presented by a world that can be arbitrary and unfair. My past experiences, doing individual and family therapy with people of all ages, of diverse backgrounds, and difficult, sometimes traumatic histories and life circumstances, have engendered within me a core belief that with the right support and collaboration, it is possible to make meaningful and long-lasting changes.
I focus on where you are strong not wrong. I inspire hope, courage and pride, giving perspective -- sometimes with humor. Easy to talk to, responsible, happily married, with successful adult children, I really want to help YOU achieve YOUR goals. Then fire me soon. I help you deal with loss, grief , transition, stress and anxiety; also with ongoing relationship issues...
Hi, thanks so much for taking an interest in my practice. It takes great courage and awareness to come to the decision to reach out for support. I see clients in my office in Cambridge, MA, near Davis Square, and in Melrose, MA, as well as by teletherapy/videochat. I specialize in helping people to free themselves from the 'silent conversation' that we have with ourselves throughout the day. By understanding how this conversation influences our thoughts, feelings, and actions, it is possible to adapt it to feel more empowered in life. It is my hope that your therapy experience will feel comforting, meaningful, real, and effective in getting to the heart of your core concerns. I work from an integrative framework in a warm and interactive environment, drawing from holistic, cognitive, and psychodynamic influences to help people to reclaim a sense of choice and authorship in their lives. My background includes more than 25 years in clinical healthcare, school, and community settings working therapeutically with individuals, couples, and groups on a wide-range of issues causing acute and chronic distress. Nicole Warner is a queer, trauma-informed therapist, specializing in supporting LGBTQIA+ folks. Putting experience into words lessons difficulties and facilitates creative, individual ways of making it through life. For couples, fully expressing thoughts and feelings reduces the risk of relationships becoming more strained and faltering. Currently, I am seeing individuals interested in analytic work and couples. Psychoanalysis is the deeper exploration of unconscious dynamics that make you who you are. Understanding the full range of your life experiences and how they have shaped you can free you to pursue the life you want. For creative individuals, an analytic approach is especially helpful in working toward more sustain focus, deeper artistic aims, and an integration of the artist self. Meetings are by telephone or video through the fall, and optionally may continue. I am a candidate at the Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis and a licensed psychologist.

Life can be incredibly stressful and lonely, at times, especially during the college years. I believe in the ability of therapy to help people heal and change. Often, this process starts when we feel at our lowest—lost and overwhelmed. An experienced therapist, I provide a warm, compassionate space to talk about the things that matter to you, explore what might be holding you back, and create a plan together to make the changes you desire. People say I put them at ease and quickly bring a new perspective to the way they have been thinking about a problem. I have a holistic, individualized approach—weaving together therapeutic interventions tailored to your unique needs. It would be an honor to help you navigate a difficult challenge or circumstance.

My experience on the other side of the 'couch' has shown me that real change is possible when you make your mental health a priority. It takes courage to ask for support, and you don't have to face life's challenges alone. Therapy provides a safe, supportive space for you to share and process what you’ve been carrying. In our sessions, I’ll use strengths-based approaches, insight-building techniques, and various therapeutic modalities to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and achieve your personal goals. My approach to therapy is both conversational and practical (somewhere in the middle of talking to a friend while also getting concrete techniques and insights). I strive to create a safe environment where your story is valued, and you are treated as the expert of your own lived experiences. I specialize in supporting individuals who have a sense of overwhelm, ruminating thoughts, burnout, lack of motivation, disconnected, feeling hopeless and detached, and life transitions. What You Can Expect: - Problem Solving: We'll focus on addressing the issues causing you the most stress right now. - New Understanding: You'll gain clarity on your symptoms, triggers, and responses, making them less intimidating and more manageable. - Tools and Strategies: You'll learn evidence-based techniques to manage overwhelming thoughts and emotions. - Confidence: You'll recognize your strength in handling anxiety, guilt, and sadness, empowering you to take control. Let's take this step toward self-care—I'm here to help.
