Grounded and raised in a Chinese immigrant and Vietnamese refugee family, my roots and experiences have amplified my passion to shatter taboos in the AAPI community. I am committed to raising awareness and access to spaces of healing to communities of color. I will offer you a culturally-responsive, collaborative space to share your story. I aim to apply an anti-oppressive framework at the heart of my practice; and care deeply about the impact of intergenerational and race-based trauma. I value authenticity, transparency, and humor in our journey! The complexities of juggling responsibilities as a student, employee, caregiver, etc., can be super exhausting and I'm here to tell you that I see you! You are more than just a person embedded in an institution and your emotionality should be heard and cared for.

Hi, I'm Shani! I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maine. My clients come to me for support with a number of concerns including: major life transitions including coming out, grief, transitioning to adulthood, or shifting family dynamics. They may also be working through identity exploration, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, anxiety, or struggling with managing the constant heaviness of the world. My clients tend to be insight-oriented and motivated to engage in the therapeutic process. My style is warm, non-judgmental, patient, and highly attentive to issues of social justice. I practice with sex-positive, body-positive lenses and actively work to incorporate values of decolonization and anti-racism. I am deeply committed to supporting members of my LGBTQIA+ community and our allies and I believe strongly that immigrants strengthen our communities. When clients first start therapy, I take great care to establish a counseling space where they feel safe, supported, respected, seen, and heard regardless of background. I want our time together to be something that clients look forward to and believe the quality of the client-counselor relationship sets the foundation for the work that we will do together. When you’re ready, I’m here to help. Even if you don't fully believe it yourself just yet, I know that things can - and will - get better, and I am so looking forward to working with you.

Whether facing in-the-moment or long term concerns, therapy provides a unique and professional third-party perspective. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, and PTSD, and I am a proud queer therapist with a deep commitment to supporting LGBTQIA+ clients through both internal struggles and the very real weight of societal pressures. I have worked across a range of settings, including health promotion, Mass General Brigham, and group practice. I draw from an eclectic blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Humanistic Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Feminist Therapy—tailoring my approach to what fits you. I hold a Master's in Psychology from Boston College, where I have returned as an adjunct professor of the practice. I bring that same teaching orientation into my work with clients—helping you understand the skills, frameworks, and coping strategies behind what we explore together. My priority is to help you find relief as soon as possible, and to understand the deeper roots of what brought you here in order to sustain feeling better. I view sessions less as a clinical appointment, and more like an honest conversation with someone genuinely in your corner. I'd love to connect—feel free to reach out to schedule a consultation together!

Welcome! I am a licensed individual therapist who works with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, low self-esteem, and difficult life-transitions. My clients are typically looking for a path to cope with their present concerns through developing and strengthening skills and self-understanding to aid them in living more comfortable, fulfilling, and meaningful lives. I use an eclectic approach to engage in a client-centered relationship formed through compassion, empathy, and validation. Mental health is a challenging landscape, yet with the right support I believe the process can be rewarding too. I specialize in humanistic practice and know that each person possesses their own unique strengths and abilities to build upon in helping them evolve and improve their quality of life. I help folks get unstuck by using strategies and conserving their energy as best they can. Sometimes all the insight in the world doesn't change your life. I use various behavior therapies so we can understand how and why you tick AND come up with tangible steps towards the life you’ve always wanted. Virtual evening skills groups! I offer virtual DBT skills groups for adults including: young adults, mixed ages and all genders, women only and men only. Generally the folks I work with struggle with high sensitivity, perfectionism, and mild/moderate depression and anxiety symptoms. Most of the folks I work with use the psychoeducational group to enhance the individual healing work they are already doing. The group adds structure and accountability to practicing evidence based coping strategies to better manage moods, identify triggers, improve relationships/communication and overall stress management techniques.

You may appear confident on the outside, but internally struggle with self-doubt, anxiety, or fear of rejection. Many of my clients feel “too much” and not enough at the same time, which can show up as overgiving, withdrawing, or difficulty setting boundaries. I work with high-achieving individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, and grief—often expressed through overthinking, emotional avoidance, or disconnection. These patterns are often rooted in early experiences, cultural pressures, or navigating marginalized identities, all of which can shape how we view ourselves and relate to others. Together, we work to build a more grounded sense of self, increase emotional awareness, and shift away from survival patterns like numbing, overcontrolling, or checking out. My goal is to help you feel more confident, connected, and at ease in your life and relationships. I especially enjoy working with BIPOC clients, Asian Americans, first-generation individuals, and those exploring identity and belonging. I offer a free, no-pressure consultation to see if we’re a good fit.

Life can be stressful, chaotic and overwhelming. Transitions such as starting college, graduating college, a new job, separation or divorce, a significant loss, or becoming a new parent can add to our already complicated and stressful lives. Acknowledging that you need help and taking the step of finding a therapist is not easy. It takes both strength and courage. My goal is to help my clients on their personal journey. I believe in the power of relationships. I believe the power of the therapeutic relationship is what can ignite understanding, accepting, healing, changing and growing. My approach is a solution focused, strength-based perspective. I pull from a variety of therapeutic techniques to best address the individual needs of my clients. Specialty/areas of interest: anxiety, depression, relationship issues, bereavement, infertility and grief counseling, and general life transitions- specifically young adults exploring their adult identify and new parents adjusting to the transition of parenthood. I offer secure, confidential telehealth therapy. You participate where it is most comfortable and convenient for you. ***I also offer short term summer counseling for college students’ home for summer break. I am a college therapist during the academic school year and I am aware of the challenge summer breaks can be for students who are temporarily home and away from their primary therapist at college. I offer short term therapy to bridge the gap in care.
