I am an experienced psychotherapist (LICSW) and Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP) working with individuals, couples and groups. If you are reading this, then you are looking for some help. I got you. Mind Matters Therapeutics is my brain child (see what I did there?). I taught for a decade, then I decided to go back to school to practice medicine. Best decision I ever made. The best part of all this? I know the ups, downs, inside-outs, stressors, and joys of being a student. I know the demands of college coursework. I have expertise in advocating for young adults in the educational setting regardless of the individual concern: Are you looking for continuation of care? I will pick up where your hometown doc left off. Keep you going strong. Are you looking for academic accommodations and advocacy? I will fight for you. And my paperwork is exceptional. Are you looking for someone to talk to? I specialize in trauma-focused therapy and OCD/anxiety type therapy. I can see you as much as you need to be seen, no limitations. Are you in need of just figuring it all out? My initial assessments are thorough; I leave no stone unturned. I take the time to listen to you. Always. You’re the captain of the ship, and you’re in control of your care. We will figure out the root issues at the jump. I got you. I will never dismiss you. I will be available to you. I will respond to your questions, needs, concerns, etc. in a timely way. I am on your team, I work for you. I sincerely care. I do this for my soul, not my pocket. I’d love to help. P.S. Don’t sweat the insurance. I know how to work with in and out-of-network insurance. My students pay little (if anything) to see me. Honest. Best, Des O’Doherty Mind Matters Therapeutics

I believe entering into a therapeutic relationship shows a desire to grow and learn during a time that may be difficult. Luckily, this is where the possibility for unlocking potential and true growth begins. At our practice, we strive to foster an environment where people feel safe, comfortable and open towards being challenged, allowing them to persevere and achieve.
I am currently accepting self-pay clients! During therapy sessions, I hold space for people facing all types of life experiences that encompass our collective human experience. Some key areas that I support individuals with are finding relief from anxiety through the cultivation of self-regulation and nervous system support, navigating major life transitions, healing from traumatic events, past or present, and exploring ways of living that are in alignment with one's true desires. I strive to help individuals build a relationship with themselves that are rooted in compassion and self-acceptance. As our imagination becomes activated and absorbed in the freedom of art and play, our linear or rational thinking processes of labeling and making judgments are temporarily suspended. This temporary suspension allows us to access our intuition (heart, center, wisdom, spirit, true self) and deepen awareness of our thoughts, feelings and experiences in life.
I began my private practice 12 years ago after working for many years in medical social work, college counseling and fertility support. The practice has evolved from primarily infertility, pregnancy and post- partum support to working with teens, young adults and women going through life transitions, Anxiety and Depression. I offer an interactive experience that blends elements of CBT, DBT, positive psychology, coaching and referrals and resources to other supportive practitioners in the areas of Acupuncture, Reiki, Nutrition and Functional Medicine.
Welcome! I’m Lauren Cohen, a licensed independent clinical social worker, and I’m so glad you’re here. A bit about me: I’m a Los Angeles native, and a White, Jewish, cis-gendered (she/her) clinician. I am open about these parts of my identity when we work together - and strive to create a space where all of your parts always feel seen and welcome. I’ve always been fascinated by emotions, relationships, and behavior. My love for learning about different people has taken me to over 25 countries. Traveling has given me a profound understanding of human nature, “sameness”, and also the vast complexities of different cultures. Outside of sessions, I love creating pottery, being in nature, a good sunset swim, & trying new foods with my family and friends. I approach therapy with a dynamic and evolving perspective, tailoring my methods to meet your unique needs. Psychodynamic theory, Attachment theory, and Mindfulness are foundational to my work, and I am also a Level 1 trained therapist in Internal Family Systems (IFS). IFS allows us to explore the different “parts” of your identity, by uncovering truths and developing your own inner healer. I believe healing comes from building a trusting relationship between mind and body, and creating space for your authentic self to emerge. Meditation and breathwork are often utilized to connect you with your mind’s eye and core self. My approach to therapy is warm, kind and playful. I have a deeply non-judgmental attitude, providing a space where you can feel safe and supported as we navigate the complexities of your inner world. I also embrace the deeper, darker aspects of self, recognizing that these parts of your experience can hold wisdom and strength - the shadow is always welcome in our work.

I provide trauma informed and culturally humble care to adults across the age span, and I work from a Health at Every Size (HAES) model. My past work experience includes both medical and psychiatric hospital settings, hospice & palliative care, and community based mental health. I have worked with LGBTQIA+ communities for over a decade, and I value providing gender affirming care. Starting treatment with a new mental health provider can be daunting: it involves opening up with the hope that you'll learn and grow from the experience. I have tremendous respect and admiration for my patients, as they work through challenging emotions, histories, and conflicts. At times, certain thought patterns, self-perceptions, traumatic experiences, or communication struggles can keep people from thriving and building the kind of career, relationship, or personal well-being they crave. It takes courage to work on these issues, and it is a real privilege to get to help people on their journey. I am a Harvard-trained, board-certified psychiatrist providing psychotherapy and medication management to adults in Massachusetts through telehealth. Growing up in an immigrant family and having worked in multiple clinics internationally, I highly value providing culturally competent care. It is very important to me that my patients feel seen and heard. I use a collaborative, holistic approach to care, in which I work alongside clients to define and set goals. I am transparent about the extent of what is and isn't well-known in psychiatry with the goal of helping people make informed decisions that they feel comfortable implementing. If this approach sounds like a good fit for you, please reach out!

I aim to create a space where you feel understood and at ease. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 10 years of experience working with individuals dealing with emotional difficulties.
