I provide client-centered psychotherapy services that are tailored to the needs of each client. I draw from a variety of theoretical orientations including Psychodynamic (insight oriented) and behavioral (skills oriented) treatment approaches. I provide individual therapy to adults and adolescents in both English and Japanese. Some areas of specialty include relationship issues, self esteem issues, life transitions, stress, anxiety, mood issues (depression), family issues and cross cultural adaptation. My clients describe me as warm, empathetic and genuine. I am concerned with understanding the full person with whom I am sitting, and not only their problems or symptoms. I currently have a Friday morning availability at 1015am and am conducting sessions by phone only.

Accepting new clients! At the center of my work is the belief that healing happens through connection—therapy begins with a space that feels safe, compassionate, and authentically supportive. I work with adults and young adults who are navigating life changes, anxiety, depression, identity questions, relationship challenges, and the ongoing work of self-discovery. I am affirming of LGBTQ+ identities, supportive of neurodiverse experiences, and committed to practicing in ways that are inclusive, culturally attuned, and trauma-informed. My style is person-centered and strengths-focused, rooted in humanistic values. I support clients in making sense of their experiences, discovering meaning, and reconnecting with what matters most to them. In addition to my general practice, I also support caregivers, siblings, and parents of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, offering space for emotional processing and deeper understanding. I see therapy as a collaborative journey, an opportunity to explore meaning, reclaim personal narratives, and cultivate resilience. Each person brings their own wisdom, and I’m honored to walk alongside you as you move toward greater clarity. Please reach out with any questions you may have about the therapeutic process or working with me!

I believe that therapy is a journey that takes place in a safe and collaborative space between therapist and client. Within that space, I use a warm, supportive, curious and empathic approach to guide our work as we look at current and past stressors that may be causing you to feel "stuck" in various aspects of your life. Together, we can work to identify your inner strengths and resources that will aid you in managing current stressors, work through past events, and move towards health and healing. Specializations include: PTSD/Complex PTSD, Anxiety/Stress, Dissociation, Attachment, Sexual Assault/Abuse, and relationship/adjustment challenges. I use an eclectic therapeutic approach that is geared towards meeting my clients' individual needs and is aimed at promoting growth, clarity, and overall well being. I have had training in the most advanced treatment of anxiety, stress and trauma including EMDR, Sensorimotor/body-based therapies, and attachment-based psychotherapies. I remain up-to-date with the most effective therapies to aid my clients in developing tools and skills to meet the challenges of everyday life. I understand that finding the right therapeutic fit is a process and appreciate the strength and courage it takes to reach out for support. One of my specializations is helping students who feel they are on the verge of dropping a semester because of stress, anxiety, or other difficulties. If you feel stuck, overwhelmed, in a crisis or at a crossroads, or in any situation in which 50 minutes of counseling isn't “enough”, an Individual Counseling Retreat may be a good fit. This service was created in part to fill a gap in services between the 50-minute session and going into a hospital or rehab. But it's also intended for anyone who simply wants or needs to go deeper than the typical therapy session. A personal counseling retreat puts therapy into a different context: An inspiring setting with a lot of time outdoors. Time to walk and talk, rather than just sitting, and leverage the healing effect of time in nature. We choose a retreat center or other setting so that the process itself is uplifting and inspiring, both calming and energizing. The impact of getting off the grid and devoting time to re-grouping can't be overstated. The time frame of a multi-day retreat allows a lot of learning and processing in a condensed period of time, with a minimum of distractions. The counseling addresses your difficulties, but also focuses on positive psychology- the skills of thriving and well-being. It also integrates meditation, mindfulness, yoga, and healthy food. The one-to-one counseling allows for truly personalized attention and coaching. It provides the time and space to explore issues in depth, connecting dots and seeing new ways of responding. It's not a magic cure, because nothing is. But it is a unique and highly impactful experience and a powerful commitment to your future well-being. A typical retreat is 3-5 days, and includes mindfulness meditation, stress management skills, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), addiction recovery counselings as appropriate, and other evidence-supported therapeutic frameworks. MBCT focuses on empowering you to understand helpful and unhelpful patterns of thinking and reacting, and grow the positive ones. The work focuses primarily on the here and now, less on lengthy excavation of your past. The overall goal is resourcing you with new skills to better manage the stress and challenges you return to post-retreat. You come away with more than a diagnosis and a medication prescription. The outcome of a retreat is a new understanding of how your mind, nervous system and body interact, and how to ride life's ups and downs with more resilience. You leave with a post-retreat plan of self-care, which includes specific daily practices to support ongoing self-regulation and what you value most: Being your best self. As appropriate, post-retreat follow up with me is available. Clients who bring flexibility of mind- an ability to look at problems in a new way- and who have a love of the outdoors tend to resonate with this work the most. To discuss fees, location options and other logistical matters, email or call. Let's find a plan that works for you!

You have been trying to get to a place where you can be authentically you. But currently, so much is defined or dominated by relational trauma or systemic oppression. We can work together to heal from trauma from the past, and work together on the current traumas that impact your life. As a therapist, I work to be affirming of who you are - so that you have the space to be you and bring that best version of you out into the world.

I work with people who long to feel more at home with themselves and in their lives. My clients are curious, self-reflective and have experienced things that leave them feeling hurt, fearful and alone. During sessions we may encounter powerful gates of self-discovery like grief, anger, and shame. Together we get to know these parts of you, approach them with kindness, release painful stories and make meaning. Clients leave sessions feeling closer to themselves, able to move through their lives with clarity and presence. My approach weaves multiple therapeutic approaches within and beyond traditional psychotherapy. I’m trained in IFS and EMDR, and incorporate mindfulness and somatic practices into sessions. I offer reiki, a form of energy healing, to support regulation and rest. I'm also a student of tarot and astrology, and can include these perspectives in the work. I welcome all parts of you to this work. To learn more about me and to see if we are a good match for doing this work together, email me to schedule a free 15 minute consultation call.

I’m so glad you're here! If masking, people-pleasing, code-switching, avoiding, isolating (and everything in between) has been your way of managing your anxiety, here is a space where we create a calm place for you to be your authentic self. Come with quirks, emotions, humor, cursing, and even your crafts, this is your space. All that in stride, I understand that the path to finding your true self can be complex and sometimes daunting. But rest assured, you don’t have to do it alone. Here, therapy is not just about addressing issues; it's about celebrating who you are and who you’re becoming. So bring every part of you into the room. I’m here to listen, understand, and help you thrive.

My approach to therapy is active, flexible, goal-oriented, and collaborative. Ultimately, my role is to help you gain the skills, insights, and self-compassion to be your own therapist. I meet clients where they are, help them to clarify their goals, identify what stands in their way, and work through (or with) these obstacles through the use of CBT, ACT and short-term psychodynamic approaches. I pay special attention to cultural and contextual factors that may be relevant to your concerns and treatment. In my work in university, refugee and veterans’ clinic settings, I've had the
opportunity to engage with diverse populations and a wide array of presenting
concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions and
relational concerns. If you think we may be a good match, please get in touch to schedule a 15-minute consultation.

My practice is: Queer- and Trans-affirming, Neurodiversity affirming, sex positive, Kink-affirming, and Poly/Non-Monogamy-affirming. I work with individuals and relationships. I like to establish up front that I am a safe person to correct, call-out, interrupt, disagree and argue with. It will not impact our therapeutic relationship. You are the expert of your own life. (If minor is included.) I work with all ages IF conjointly working with the whole system, otherwise I mainly work with adults.
