Therapists for college students near Cambridge, MA
My expertise is working with college students as I've worked at MIT for 22 and a half years at the MIT MH Counseling Service. Have worked with students from the US and all over the worlds on a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, academic challenges, sexual identity, cultural adjustment and relationships issues.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) at Nourished Minds Counseling + Wellness, I specialize in treating adolescents and adults struggling with eating disorders, complex trauma, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, OCD and personality disorders. My clinical approach flexibly incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). I enjoy working with clients to meet their goals with curiosity, compassion and humor.
Welcome! Working with young adults is a specialty of my practice. I have helped endless university students navigate the very specific issues that come up during this time. Together we will work on finding your confidence and balance. Whether something is coming up for you that is specific to the here and now like a stressful academic period or a complicated relationship dynamic or rather a long term pattern you'd like to work on, I can help.
College and graduate school can be times of great personal growth, but also times of great challenge. It can be overwhelming to adjust to new living situations, to figure out what you want to do and who you want to be, and build and maintain relationships, all while trying to get your work done. Carrying the weight of it all can feel heavy…and I would love to help you feel less alone. Together we can examine the tough questions and situations. You can have a place to put everything down, rest, and feel okay with not having it all figured out yet.
Hello! I offer in-person appointments at my office in Portland, Maine. I also provide video sessions to clients in Maine, Massachusetts, New York, and participating PSYPACT states. I have 14 years of experience working with undergraduate and graduate students in college counseling center and outpatient settings. I love working with this population! My integrative approach to psychotherapy utilizes evidence-based skills-focused therapies (such as CBT) combined with a strong Psychodynamic (insight-oriented) framework. Treatment interventions are thoughtfully chosen to fit the particular needs of each individual client. Clients who tend to be a great fit are seeking help for: anxiety, depressed mood, feeling "stuck", adjusting to college, relationship concerns, improving communication, navigating dating and marriage, coping with stress, job dissatisfaction, grief from loss, chronic illness, health goals, substance use concerns, sleep issues, EMDR for past/recent traumas. I welcome you to reach out to me to discuss if we might be a good therapist-client fit. I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation to answer your questions and hear a bit about your personal therapy goals.
I think of this work as a combination of life coaching and therapy. We will focus on your day to day life challenges, noticing the patterns that lead to success as well as those patterns that get in your way. While doing this we can strengthen and celebrate what is working, become aware of patterns that are not working and create new patterns resulting in a better life. In my practice we can do both in-person and/or Telehealth. If we are to meet in-person I like to meet you where you are at literally and figuratively. I do not see people in an office. In my time as a clinician I have learned that some of the best work is done on a walk or a drive, while at a coffee shop or some other cool place that you know. Give me a call and see if I feel like a good fit.
We're a small group of clinical psychologists who love working with college students, using evidence-based therapies and supportive relationships. We offer individual and group therapies, and intensive therapy or coaching for times when you may need extra help fast. We have a lot of experience helping students across a range of life issues, including the stress of college adjustment, family and relationship concerns, and a range of psychiatric diagnoses like anxiety, ADHD, mood, or behavioral problems. Some of our team are college faculty, and others are supervisors or students, so we understand what our college clients may need. We see clients live in our Boston MA and Bloomington IN offices, as well as virtually in several states, including FL, IN, and Washington DC. Feel free to reach out to see if we are a good fit for you!

Sometimes, when people come to therapy, they’re looking for a solution to something that feels urgent or overwhelming. At other times, people can't put words to what's wrong, but they know that something that doesn't feel right. Whether you're looking for help with anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, or something else, my goal is to put our heads together to create a space where you feel truly heard and supported in order to find a way forward. I'm trained in English and Spanish in a variety of therapeutic modalities that range from meaning-oriented work and narrative therapy to behavioral techniques, but what's most important to me is that we come together and use pieces of any of those that will be helpful to the person that I'm sitting with. I have a few openings (in-person or virtually). Contact me for a 25-minute free consultation to see if my style would be helpful for you - or to possibly refer you to a colleague. Maybe it’s hard to name exactly what’s wrong. You may be functioning on the outside while feeling exhausted inside, unsure how to share any of this with the people and systems around you. I share and want to honor these experiences of moving between cultures and languages, carrying expectations, and navigating BIPOC and LGBTQ+ identities. Together, I will work with you to co-create a space where you feel heard and seen, with room to better understand who you are and move toward what you want. My hope is to gently empower you with insights and momentum that extend into your life beyond therapy. As a queer Asian therapist with experience as an international student, I bring understanding of navigating identity, belonging, and multiple worlds into my work. My approach is trauma-informed, relational-cultural, and humanistic, with space for creative exploration of your experiences and relationships. I also integrate CBT and somatic tools when helpful. You don’t have to carry everything alone. If you’re looking for a fellow traveler who can hold your full story, sit with life challenges, and stay alongside you through uncertainty and change, I’m here to walk with you.
