Therapists for college students near Harvard University
I provide individual therapy and couples counseling for adults struggling with a wide range of issues. My areas of expertise include mood dysregulation, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, life transitions, identity issues, college counseling, and trauma/PTSD. Overall, I view therapy as a collaborative relationship between client and therapist in which we work together towards client self-knowledge, self-acceptance, and healing. I work from a flexible, integrative approach, drawing on aspects of psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and relational modalities, depending on each client's particular needs. My style is empathetic, respectful, and curious. I have specialized training in Prolonged Exposure therapy for PTSD, cross-cultural therapy, working with veterans, and working with asylum-seekers/refugees.

Effective therapy creates meaningful, lasting, joyful change. As your therapist I can help you resolve the inner and outer conflicts that create pain and exhaustion. Life brings unchosen experiences. Sometimes we feel hurt, scared, or deeply alone. Sometimes what happens seems too big to manage. For 25+ years I have had the privilege of helping people learn to live as their "best self," able to manage their moods, thoughts and situations with compassion and skill, to make changes to reach their goals, and to find happiness. I lived and worked in Africa for 6 years, and have helped people from many cultures find their joy. My specialty is helping people understand their unique "recipe" of biology, upbringing, relationships, and current situations, and how they might work with their "ingredients" to create immediate and long-lasting positive change. My approach is practical. I integrate psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies, internal and strategic family systems, EMDR and other trauma-informed approaches, and mindfulness-based stress management. Depression, anxiety, loneliness, frustration, pulls towards behaviors that lead to pain...whatever is interfering with your well-being is worth changing. Together we can produce change. Please EMAIL
As a therapist, I take a collaborative approach with patients to relieve distress, improve well-being, and develop new insights. Together, we will identify patterns in living that you want to change, and discover how prior experiences have shaped your emotional life, relationships, and behavior, perhaps in ways that are outside of your awareness. I treat patients who experience anxiety, depression, difficulties in relationships, challenges related to work and career, and stress that is related to life transitions. My approach to therapy is interactive and open-ended, with a focus on helping you to learn about yourself and to find new, more fulfilling ways of living. With all of my patients, I work to build a relationship that holds the potential for you to discover new possibilities for yourself. I seek to have a practice that is diverse with regard to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, and ability/disability status. The process of therapy includes exploration of all aspects of identity, including how both marginalization and privilege shape experience. This exploration includes processing how identity is experienced in the therapeutic dyad, and understanding how similarities and differences between the patient and therapist shape the therapeutic process. I welcome hearing from you to discuss the possibility of setting up an initial consultation. Together, we can determine if I can meet your needs as a therapist.
Many people seek out psychotherapy to decrease unwanted experiences; to feel less depressed, feel less anxious, etc. While I work with clients to address these concerns, I also help to identify what we can increase together. What are your values? How can we work together to add more to your life consistent with those values? As a solo practitioner, I deliberately maintain a small client caseload to ensure I am fully able to attend to my clients’ needs. My areas of expertise include treatment of depression, anxiety, and interpersonal difficulties in adults. As a university professor, I genuinely enjoy working with college students. I believe in a collaborative approach to psychotherapy. I place a high premium on the therapeutic relationship, and work to tailor my interventions to my clients’ goals and preferences. I tend to use a relational style to help identify interpersonal patterns and supplement this approach with behavioral strategies in the service of your values. I recognize that your time and money are valuable, and I believe in regular and open communication about what is and is not working in psychotherapy. I regularly incorporate routine outcomes measures in therapy to ensure that our work together is on track with your goals and to change our approach together if it is not.
My practice provides a safe and caring space where meaningful change is possible. The solution-focused services are tailored to meet the individual needs of my clients. I draw from a variety of theoretical orientations and am skilled at using cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and relational treatment approaches.
I work with adults dealing with challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, stress, & executive dysfunction. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor therapy to fit your unique needs. I draw from a variety of evidence-based techniques to help you better understand yourself, navigate life's challenges and build on your strengths. As a queer, autistic/neurodivergent, & disabled therapist, I am especially passionate about supporting people within these communities in a way that is respectful, understanding, and empowering. I recognize the impacts that trauma & systems of inequality can have on mental health, & strive to provide care that is compassionate & inclusive. I show up as my authentic self & work to create a space where you can feel safe, comfortable, & accepted. You are the expert on your own life, & my role is to support you as we explore what you need to heal, grow, & move forward.
As a licensed social worker, I specialize in helping individuals, both adolescents and adults, navigate the challenges of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety disorders. I use evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to empower my clients to manage their symptoms, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and to feel more comfortable with the inevitable discomfort and uncertainty that humans face daily. I offer a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental space where clients can openly explore their struggles. I believe in a holistic approach that addresses not just symptoms, but the whole person. I also value open communication, so I encourage feedback throughout our work together to ensure we are on the right path. I am passionate about this work because I truly believe that with the right tools and support, everyone has the ability to live a value-based life. I love seeing my clients develop a better understanding of their strengths and learn to live with uncertainty. It is amazing to me how much bigger the world can seem when we are not constrained by our fears.
I am a Clinical Psychologist and a psychoanalyst, specializing in work with individuals suffering from mood disorders, addiction, trauma, and identity issues. I specialize in working with clients who are experiencing a multitude of challenges, including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, disability/chronic illness, identity exploration, and challenges with self-esteem. This can include family/relationship issues, life transitions (including college/early adulthood), or identity formation. I specialize in working with neurodivergent individuals, especially women with ADHD. Supporting LGBTQ+ mental health from an intersectional lens is another focus. I also have an interest in working with clients who are exploring immigrant experience, family dynamics, and generational trauma. I previously worked in college counseling (at Wellesley College) and residential life (at Harvard College), so I'm well-attuned to the specific experiences and challenges of college student life! As a relational psychodynamic therapist, I believe that our experiences are shaped by our relationships with ourselves, other people, and the world at large. My work is informed by feminist, queer, disability, and critical race theory. I also integrate narrative therapy, which allows us to reimagine the stories we tell about ourselves and our lives. I am deeply attentive to how identity and marginalization can impact one's experiences and movement through the world. In my work, I strive for a trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive, and socially just practice. I meet clients with curiosity, warmth, and nuance to explore their experiences, relationships, and challenges. My goal is to co-create a welcoming and supportive space in which clients can tell/retell their stories, appreciate their strengths, and work towards their goals

Since then, I have worked for Riverside Community Care gaining considerable experience in working with anxiety issues, self regulation and the challenges of family relationships. I am a LICSW with over fifteen years of experience where I collaborate with clients to discover a resiliency within themselves. My most rewarding experiences have been with young adults who may be just beginning or those returning to college and managing the challenges that arise. I work with individuals who may experience a range of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, adjusting to life transitions and those impacted by trauma and systems of oppression. I bring warmth, compassion and sometimes humor to our conversations and enjoy working with individuals who are interested in understanding more about themselves and how they move through the world.
