I am a psychotherapist with over 18 years of experience in clinical practice. In working together, it is my hope that we can create a safe space where you can slow down, pause, breathe and self-reflect. A moment of reflection, clarity, and deep connection to yourself. A dedicated space for curiosity and collaboration where we identify ways in which you can learn to welcome and cope more constructively with your feelings and thoughts, improve and strengthen your interpersonal relationships, and increase your awareness about how your life experiences may be impacting your overall well-being. I acknowledge and appreciate your strengths and resilience when facing challenging circumstances in your life. Fundamentally, my goal is to help empower you by bolstering your internal resources to help you move towards a more fulfilling life. My therapeutic style is a mix of cognitive behavioral, relational, and mindfulness-based interventions. I offer expertise in long-term individual therapy, meeting with most of my patients weekly or more. I enjoy working with difficult issues including depression, anxiety, and trauma. These issues often have many manifestations like panic, procrastination and avoidance, low energy, low confidence, eating and sleep disturbances to name only a few. I work hard to offer a space where we can listen very carefully to what is contributing to these problems. My belief is that our problems point to something more than disorder and dysfunction; they point to something that is profoundly unique in each of us. I look forward to hearing from you to talk about how I can help.
Often, a significant source of suffering lies in thoughts and feelings that exist outside of our awareness and have not yet been able to find full expression. Psychotherapy offers the unusual opportunity to be listened to deeply and to learn to listen to ourselves in new ways. Exploring and developing insight into your inner life can lead to change—feeling better about yourself, shifting seemingly intractable patterns that have kept you stuck, and developing a greater sense of agency and fulfillment in your life. My practice provides a safe setting in which this exploration can unfold. I'll work collaboratively with you to help you make sense of distressing feelings and thoughts, gain insight into your experiences, and develop a more authentic relationship to yourself and to the world. I have advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and my work is influenced by psychoanalytic and trauma-informed approaches. I see adults and specialize in a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, complex trauma, and relationship difficulties. Our College Mental Health Programs provide young adults with educational opportunities to build collegiate resilience, academic and wellness tools, and social connections. Our work is steeped in the principles of psychiatric rehabilitation: personhood, hope, choice, and self- determination, and we believe in recovery from mental health and substance use conditions, and the power of peers, mentoring, collaboration, mutuality, and inclusive communities.
I am licensed mental health therapist with a private practice in Brookline, MA. I offer in-person and/or Telehealth visits. I treat individuals and couples presenting with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, and relationship challenges. My approach to therapy involves fostering interpersonal communication, problem-solving and coping skills while helping clients gain insight into how their life experiences influence their present functioning. I am an active therapist who engages clients on a personal level through reflective listening as well as focused questioning. I received a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Couples and Family Therapy from William James College (formerly Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology).
I think of this work as a combination of life coaching and therapy. We will focus on your day to day life challenges, noticing the patterns that lead to success as well as those patterns that get in your way. While doing this we can strengthen and celebrate what is working, become aware of patterns that are not working and create new patterns resulting in a better life. In my practice we can do both in-person and/or Telehealth. If we are to meet in-person I like to meet you where you are at literally and figuratively. I do not see people in an office. In my time as a clinician I have learned that some of the best work is done on a walk or a drive, while at a coffee shop or some other cool place that you know. Give me a call and see if I feel like a good fit.
Life is a journey and it presents us with struggles. Our minds are resilient and plastic, yet when we are blocked we may not appreciate this. I give my clients tools to help themselves adjust and adapt to their individual struggles, such as death of a love one, stress, relational breakups and a spectrum of traumas. I am a guide to help my clients resolve their temporary block.
Hi, my name is Jenny Rivillas-O'Neill. I am a firm believer in a multidimensional approach to care in order to achieve sustained wellness. My framework incorporates the understanding that we may all experience periods where life management skills alone are insufficient, and thoughtful medication supplementation can be therapeutic in achieving balance and wellness. Through direct care experience, my knowledge, motivation, and passion for assisting people seeking wellness have grown exponentially. My experience includes PMHNP Residency training in the VA Boston Healthcare System, Inpatient Nursing Director at BIDMC, and currently in the last year of a Doctoral program at Yale concentrating on adverse childhood and community experiences and finding pathways toward healing.
As a somatic trauma therapist, I specialize in supporting individuals affected by complex childhood and developmental trauma. My approach focuses on helping you tune into the mind-body connection as a pathway to healing and building a stronger connection with yourself. Our work together will be a collaborative effort. We will focus on addressing areas of pain while nurturing your inner strength and resilience. My commitment is to be fully present, creating a supportive environment that allows for personal growth and healing.
