Therapists for college students near 27707
My therapy animals and I have worked with students for decades to guide and empower them in navigating life stressors/transitions, anxiety and relationship issues. Students who have sessions with me build tools for resiliency and coping that work for them. I am client centered, meet you where you are and provide a safe compassionate space to share!
Perhaps you’ve been keeping your head above water in your day-to-day life, but find yourself worrying a lot or feeling stuck in a “funk." Maybe you’ve been carrying something heavy for long enough, and are finally ready to talk through it in a supportive space. Or maybe you simply want to feel heard and understood as you navigate a tough transition in your life; you just need someone to be there with you while you do it. While anxiety and trauma may leave us feeling depleted, I believe that counseling can help us find our most authentic and resilient selves through these experiences. My aims are to listen with non-judgment, to help you identify the goals and steps toward them that feel right for you, and to offer support, tools, and even a gentle nudge when you need it. We will co-create a space that feels safe enough to talk about the hard stuff in life, while also shining plenty of light on what helps you feel hopeful and positive. The decision to start counseling is not an easy one, and I know feeling a good connection with your counselor matters. I am passionate about building genuine and effective relationships with my clients and find that empathy, authenticity, and even humor are helpful tools in doing so. Please feel free to reach out about setting up a free phone consultation. I offer a combination of in-person and telehealth sessions based on the needs, preferences, and health status of both myself and my clients. Rates listed below are cash pay rates as of May 2022; out-of-pocket expenses to clients using insurance will vary based on their specific insurance plans, so please confirm the coverage of your specific plan prior to initiating services.

Therapy is not a luxury, it’s a courageous step toward wellness. Are you a college student of color feeling the weight of expectations on your shoulders? Juggling classes, work, caregiving, or family responsibilities? Maybe you're navigating a painful breakup or divorce, feeling isolated, or burned out from always being the strong one for everyone else. You’re not alone and you don’t have to carry it all by yourself. Whether you're a first-gen student trying to find your footing, returning to school after years away, balancing school with parenting, or simply stuck in a cycle of stress, anxiety, or emotional pain, your experiences matter. Your healing matters. Therapy can be a powerful space to breathe, process, and begin again. You deserve support that sees and honors all parts of your journey. Take the first step. You’re worth it.

Life can feel overwhelming and confusing when we are met with expectations that do not align with our authentic self. I believe positive and effective change can happen once we become more confident and empowered within ourselves. I work with individuals to feel confident to make effective change within their life in order meet their personal and therapeutic goals. I primarily work individuals with disrupted attachments related to childhood trauma, and sexual trauma; in addition to PTSD, depression, anxiety, and OCD (specifically related to Relationships, Contamination, Perfectionism, and Health).
Deeper Roots Therapy provides individual and group therapy for clients working through anxiety, depression, trauma, disordered eating, sensory sensitivity and nervous system dysregulation impacting their ability to be present and whole in their lives. We are centered in values of trauma-informed care, anti-racism, inclusivity, non-judgment and compassion. Everyone is welcome here. We are able to accept most BCBS and Aetna plans, including the North Carolina State Health Plan. Our rates vary depending on the clinician and we offer reduced rates with our interns. Immediate telehealth evening appts. You're tired. You have to carry BIG emotions all the damn time with no outlet to let them out. You may cry when you’re alone, but put on a smile so the world can’t see you're hurting on the inside. There is no time to slow down because slowing down makes the inner critic grow louder about how awful you are. Perhaps you get some release through eating or other coping methods, but ultimately, that voice comes right back again. The inner critic makes it hard for you to accept yourself and love your flaws. It makes it hard for you to live your life intentionally, with confidence in yourself to use your voice. Everyone deserves to live a life they're excited to wake up to. Therapy helps with this. It allows you to show up and be your authentic self while healing that inner critic who causes trauma and shame. You don't have to save face. The journey may be tough. However, taking a step allows you to get closer to the resiliency you seek and break the cycle. If anything above resonates with you, I see you. I look forward to helping you become the best version of yourself. All you have to do is show up and I'll walk the beaten path with you. Just call or schedule at (www.ashleyhoseycounseling.com). I'm an OON provider but ask about superbills and other payment options.
If life feels a little like you're trying to juggle too many things at once, you're not alone. I work well with students who are navigating stress, anxiety, self-doubt, big life changes, relationship challenges, or simply the pressure of trying to keep everything together. Many of the people I meet are thoughtful, creative, caring individuals who spend so much energy showing up for others that they forget to check in with themselves. Some feel stuck, overwhelmed, or like they're trying to solve a puzzle without all the pieces. Others are searching for a place where they can be fully themselves without feeling judged. I especially enjoy working with students who see the world a little differently, including those with ADHD, autism, learning differences, and wonderfully unique ways of thinking. Together, we'll explore what works for you, celebrate your strengths, and build practical tools for handling life's twists and turns. Think of counseling as a space to unpack your backpack, sort through what's weighing you down, and discover strengths you may not even realize you have. You don't need to have all the answers—just a willingness to show up as you are.
As a trauma-informed therapist, I'm committed to providing compassionate and effective support to individuals, couples, and families. We are a practice that has you, our client, as our primary focus. We work in collaboration with each other to offer you the best help and the best tools available. Along with counseling, in the future, we will offer other forms of self-care that are just as important to take care of your whole being.
