I am so glad you're here. You just took the hardest step, so take a second for a self-hug. I believe therapy is one of the most rewarding things you can offer yourself, so congratulations. We are all on our own journey, have our own individual needs, and a history that makes us who we are. In turn, I work with every person, meet them where they are at, support & guide them, through a treatment plan we build together, to help them with their day to day challenges, and long term goals. Therapy is a beautiful tool that, if used correctly, can be life changing. I enjoy nothing more than guiding people in finding their way & themselves. I pull much of my practice from life experiences. I am an honest, authentic New Yorker who is empathetic, yet direct. For decades I have worked with young adults (high school into college) navigating the intricacies of relationships, self love, identity searching and beyond. Life can be hard. We can be even harder on ourselves. It is easy to get overwhelmed, lost, confused - but we do not need to be on this journey alone. I'm a therapist, or a friend - whatever you need in the moment. Some people are anxious about entering therapy, but my approach is: what a gift to have someone in your corner who is simply there to support you.

PCWC practices with the belief that satisfaction in life comes from the process of gaining self-awareness. This involves understanding oneself, what one wants and needs, and identifying strategies to accomplish those goals. I believe that the foundation to effective and meaningful therapeutic work lies in the mutual building of a safe and trusting relationship in which the client feels valued, respected, and understood. Seeking therapeutic support requires a significant amount of courage. I take this seriously and feel deeply honored to be trusted to do this work and to witness the growth of those I serve. I value an inclusive and neurodiversity affirming approach to psychotherapy. I have ample experience working with people from varying socioeconomic, cultural and racial backgrounds, gender identities, and sexual orientations.

Hi, I’m Courtney! I provide talk therapy for individuals, families, and couples experiencing difficulties in their daily life. My specialities include college adjustment, anxiety, depression, substance use disorder, trauma, and women’s issues. I utilize person-centered, trauma-informed, and mindfulness-based practices. I also have a certification in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). In session, we will work together to alleviate difficult feelings. I believe that we are all the experts in our own lives, and that it’s helpful to process our experiences in order to get to know ourselves on a deeper level. My approach to counseling starts with building a safe environment to help you feel more empowered and capable of change. I know finding the right therapist can be a difficult process, and I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have as you start this courageous journey. I look forward to hearing from you!

me: In a relational, humanistic, and conversational style, and through an attachment-oriented lens, I am focused on harnessing the powerful dynamic of the therapeutic relationship, in order to help individuals locate within themselves a sense of meaning and purpose in the here and now. I am focused on developing each client’s ability to maintain internal validity and positive self-regard, in order to reduce self-shame, self-judgement, and self-harm. you: While I work with individual adults of all ages, most of my clients tend to be 25-45, and coming to therapy to work through a variety of human challenges and stressors often associated with complications that occur in the life-stage transitions from adolescence to early adulthood and early adulthood into middle age. For many of us, these life-stage transitions are often extended and/or delayed, leading to feelings of pscyho-emotional paralysis and “stuckness” in repeated patterns of behavior. My practice is also further specialized in working with performing artists and other creative/artistic professionals. The intersectionality of psycho-emotional health and creative identity/artistic process is an area of experience and particular interest to me. Having trained and worked professionally as an actor, prior to earning a master’s degree in clinical social work, I am deeply focused on using the shared language of artistic development to help other artists utilize the many tools and skills they’ve already developed for self-reflection and craft honing as artists, in order to help them create growth, change, and fulfillment in their personal and professional lives. Although many of my clients meet diagnostic criteria for depression, trauma, and anxiety, I aim to see people beyond the diagnosis and view them as the whole human beings they are. us: Together, we will have a meaningful relationship intended to support and foster your personal growth, resilience, healing, and ability to create internal validity, as well as meaning and purpose in the moment. Our relationship exists within the context and framework of weekly, or bi-weekly, 45-minute conversations, focused on examining all aspects of how your pscyho-emotional health and wellbeing correspond to your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. No human is broken. We are all operating in the exact way the human system was intended to operate, by adapting; sometimes for the better, and other times to our own detriment. We are all the logical conclusion of the sum of our total experiences. Therefore, we will work jointly to piece together your narrative in a way that connects the total sum of your experiences to your present thoughts, feelings, and behavioral patterns, in order to learn to move forward, create change, and become the future self that is still yet unrealized.

S H A D O W L I G H T CENTER is a holistic and alternative approach to traditional talk therapy. We offer sessions on Zoom. We are both POC as well as racial justice and LGBTQIA+ allies devoted to deconstructing systems of harm to humans and non-humans resulting from racial, heteronormative, and hierarchical power structures. We are licensed in New York to provide therapy and practice holistic help to people outside of New York State. We integrate the mind-body-spirit (this is not a faith-based approach). We are trauma-informed and create safe spaces for you to be heard for issues large and small that college students face both in and beyond college. We weave mindfulness, somatic awareness, ancestral healing, spiritual connection, finding purpose, grief counseling, energy balancing, post-psychedelic therapy integration, and more. We specialize in helping people understand how mental health issues like depression, anxiety, etc. are related to ancestral traumas, the pain present on the earth right now, as well as our personal histories. Conventional Western wisdom says it’s only about the self, i.e. a "chemical imbalance". But wellness is more complex and inter-connected than we have been made to believe. Reach out for a free Zoom consultation.

I'm a clinical psychologist (PhD 1994, U Michigan) with 30 years experience meeting with adolescents, adults from 18-90, and couples. My doctoral research focused on loss and the impact of parental divorce. During my 25 years here I've met with many Cornell students, undergrads and grads. I make use of various approaches (psychodynamic, family systems, cognitive-behavioral), depending on what makes most sense. Family difficulties, romantic relationships, stress of all sorts, procrastination, and being 'stuck' completing academic work are common situations for which I've provided help.
