Therapists for college students near New York University
Stress, anxiety, social isolation and depression lead many college age students into therapy. Many times these problems are rooted in low self-esteem. Perfectionism leads to procrastination which often times can lead to depression. Utilizing different modalities I can help you work on these life stressors so you can lead a productive and better life. I will give you the tools to work with.
Therapy for Young Adults in NY Young adulthood and being a college student is the time in our life with the most changes in comparison to our entire lifespan. It is when we are trying to establish ourselves as individuals, separate from our families, and acclimate to college life and plan our futures. We are faced with endless opportunities and the freedom may feel scary. Some college students have feelings of anxiety and depression due to the level of independence and feeling a lack of direction. As a therapist in Westchester, I help young adults struggling with: -finding meaningful friendships -finding meaningful romantic relationships -adapting to a college environment -adjustment to graduating college -lack a sense of direction -lack a sense of identity -family conflicts -poor coping mechanisms -ambivalence about career choices -difficulty making decisions -generalized anxiety disorder -social anxiety disorder -obsessive compulsive disorder -phobias -panic attacks -fear of vomiting -perfectionistic thinking patterns -depression -low self-esteem Our work together can help you feel grounded during a time of important decision making and change. Schedule a consultation with me today so we can get to know each other and see if we're a good fit for therapy.

Students who find me most helpful are often trying to figure out who they are as separate but connected to their parents and family. I especially love working with first gen and immigrant students because I am both. I have lived and worked on four continents and English is actually not my first language, so students who are navigating intercultural issues also find it easy to connect with me. In terms of the kinds of issues students work with me on, it includes: depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship worries, fear of failure, and self esteem. I look forward to hearing from you!

Healing is unique. The challenges and hurdles that one person might be facing can be different from another. Therefore, the journey of healing must be uniquely altered to fit and support each individual. Traditional evidence-based practices are utilized with the option of incorporating additional spiritual supports. With this formula, an improved quality of life is experienced. As a healer, my life's calling is to walk with you and shed light onto your own unique pathway towards the life that you desire. My hope is through sharing with you the tools I have picked up along my own journey, you will find your own toolbox filling with valuable aids. I specialize in incorporating spiritual aspects: Reiki, Past Life Therapy, Shamanism. If you feel that you may benefit from working with me, or would benefit from the approach I take towards healing, I encourage you to reach out. I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
I’m a caring, outdoor loving, problem solving person at heart. I’m passionate about helping others feel alive, confident and encouraged. I have found many tools along my professional and personal journey to support people in managing painful emotions, de-escalating family and partner conflict and living a life informed, not run, by emotions. I’ve experienced how strong and complicated, messy and beautiful families can be. I’ve also seen how trauma, seemingly “small” or “large,” can affect a person and those closest to them, how it can empower and debilitate. Emotions can be confusing and they can also help cultivate our strengths. When it comes to facing painful emotions, people can sometimes feel alone, scared and hopeless, with nowhere to turn. There are resources, places, people and skills that can help. You don’t have to do this alone. I want you to know that it’s possible to find comfort and hope in the midst of loss, trauma, conflict or whatever challenge you may be facing. While I believe one of the most important factors in making therapy work for you is how you connect with your therapist, it’s also important you be given the tools and care to move you toward your goals. All too often I’ve seen how discouraged people become by mental health care and it’s my goal to provide a service that is routed in effective methods and treatment and a genuine, caring space for you to share and shape your story. I am committed to helping individuals and families get “unstuck” and lead you toward experiencing joy, genuine connection, hope and the ability to access your strengths, passions and resources. No matter what your age, socio-economic status, religion, race, sexual orientation, gender identity or culture, mental health can affect us all; and sometimes these factors can unfairly make it even more challenging to navigate. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space for everyone to talk and heal.
Together, we will explore the challenges you experience and build new skills to improve quality of life. I have several years of experience with college/adult populations and student-athletes. I use a Holistic approach for treatment that emphasizes CBT and DBT to increase success when coping with stress. When these skills are built, I favor utilizing IFST to embrace all aspects of who you are and learn how each of those aspects can be used for you to become fullest version of yourself!
Since my first counseling experience at the University at Buffalo's Counseling Center, I have found working with college students especially rewarding. I have dedicated my career to understanding and treating emotional health. I have always been impressed with my clients’ abilities to address and overcome life’s challenges, often using skills they didn’t even know they had. It is so gratifying to see people become the best versions of themselves. A specific area of interest is helping those to improve their interpersonal relationships, whether they be with family, coworkers, or others. I want our sessions to be a supportive and safe place where you can be your genuine self without fear of judgement as you process, learn, and work through life’s challenges. I provide evidenced-based individual therapy services grounded in cognitive behavioral, person-centered, and narrative therapy approaches, as well as motivational interviewing.

You may find yourself feeling soft spoken, timid, and meek- but secretly waiting to speak- you feel like you are tirelessly trying to keep pace in a world that does not align with your rhythm. If feelings of anxiety are consuming or camouflaging themselves as reoccurring & normal, I am an expert in supporting you in breaking out of your shell, and dismantling old narratives about anxiety, and ADHD. I support clients in exploring their pasts to inform their future, and take control of their narrative. I believe building a healthy connection with yourself is the springboard to living a more fulfilling life and can enhance your ability to form deeper relationships, and show up for yourselves and others in a more grounded way. I do not practice with a one-size fits all approach, and empower clients to take the lead in their experience. I service NY & CT residents. In your sessions I offer a safe space and a supportive, non-judgmental, and compassionate approach. You are in the driver’s seat. I’ve got the roadmap and I am ready to help you navigate your goals and guide you on your journey…the winding roads, the forks that unexpectedly spring up, the boulders that feel so heavy, and also celebrate the roads with smooth paths where you have the window down, feel the wind in your hair, and the smell of hope in the breeze. So get in the car (or hop on Zoom!), we’re going on a life trip! Throughout my career I have assisted individuals in their journeys with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, executive functioning skills, life transitions, relationships, and caregiving across the lifespan. Let’s do this. I believe in you and I can’t wait to start working with you. I specialize in (but not limited to) working with individuals with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities, individuals with physical and acquired disabilities, individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis, as well as young adults navigating life transitions, college, and the overwhelming journey of “adulting.”
