College can feel like a lot to carry. Classes, relationships, expectations, and trying to figure out what comes next. You might look like you’re handling things on the outside, but inside feel overwhelmed, stuck, exhausted, or unsure of yourself. You may notice the same patterns showing up in relationships or feel like you’re falling behind. You are not alone, this is a very common experience. Therapy is a place to sort through what’s going on and understand why things feel this way. With over 20 years of experience, I work with students navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, academic challenges and family and relationship challenges. I offer a warm, supportive space where you can talk openly, make sense of your experiences, and start to feel steadier and more confident. Together, we’ll work on building healthier boundaries, finding clarity, and helping you move forward in a way that feels right for you. If you’d like to connect, email is the best way to reach me. I look forward to hearing from you.

Welcome to the Awareness and Wellness Center (AWC)! My name is Amy Mintgomery and I am a professional counselor in Pennsylvania providing in-person and online counseling. I have been providing therapy services for adults struggling with a range of issues including substance use disorders, problems with self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief/loss, as well as anger/stress management problems and more. I have gained this experience working in a variety of therapeutic settings including long-term residential, inpatient and outpatient agencies. For 18 years I worked in the Student Life division of a local university. I worked primarily with student organizations in organizational development. I helped the young adult population of the university develop self-efficacy and to better manage stress. More recently I worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings for substance use and co-occurring disorders. In therapy, I use a person-centered approached utilizing cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused technique. My approach is to provide a soothing space and offer the environment you need to talk through life’s challenges. “Life on life’s terms” can be complicated and everyone needs a place to process difficulties. My hope is to be part of your “We” so that you have the professional support needed to begin to work through challenges and find solutions to better manage stress and the emotions connected to that stress.
I appreciate the courage it takes to seek help. I specialize in working with young adults to gain mastery over their problems. I work with you at your own pace. My therapy approach combines cognitive behavioral therapy, client centered, reality, focusing and family systems therapy.

As a psychologist-in-training, I offer a collaborative and non-judgmental space where you can explore your experiences with curiosity, openness, and compassion. I believe in meeting you where you are and creating an environment where you feel respected, supported, and free to experience and express your emotions. My clinical approach draws from existential and feminist perspectives. In therapy, we will examine the many layers of your identity, while exploring how your experiences, relationships, and environment have influenced the way you think, feel, and navigate the world. I believe our mental health is influenced by both internal and external factors, and I will help you explore these influences. Together, we can consider what gives your life purpose and meaning, and remain open to discovering those sources across all realms of your experience. I work with individuals across a wide range of ages, backgrounds, identities, and life experiences, and welcome the complexity that comes with being human. I especially welcome those navigating identity exploration, life transitions, traumatic experiences, and/or questions regarding purpose and meaning. As a therapist who highlights the importance of finding a sense of meaning and purpose in even the little things, I strive to uphold this in my personal life. Therefore, when I am not working or in class, I enjoy sewing, watching movies, spending time with my cat, going on walks, getting lost in a jigsaw puzzle, and listening to music. *Christi is currently a doctoral-level trainee in clinical psychology, working under the supervision of licensed psychologist Dr. Chelsea Chase.
