I have more than 12 years of experience in the field of counseling. I have had the privilege of working with people from many backgrounds and life experiences, including those with a history of mental health illnesses or conditions and co-occurring disorders. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I desire to work with people to help them find their own potential, and to pursue their goals in life. By nature, I use a holistic approach to therapy for the clients I work with which allows me to learn who my clients are as people before working with them to develop a personalized health plan based on their values, needs, and goals. This has been a valuable approach for me as a therapist over the years.
The New London Counseling Center is a place for our community to gather, connect, and heal. We are a not-for-profit organization that is committed to promoting the emotional, relational and spiritual well-being of individuals and families. We believe in providing high quality, compassionate therapy and educational workshops to our community, regardless of one’s ability to pay. Our team of licensed clinicians bring their diverse experiences and specialties to our practice with the goal of creating a culture that promotes mental well-being and destigmatizes therapy. We acknowledge that we are all broken, and we can all benefit from professional support at one time or another. Through our community-centered approach, we intend to tear down the walls of traditional mental health delivery by meeting people where they are every day – their places of work, their gyms, their civic groups or places to volunteer – and offer free community workshops.

Hi I’m James (they/them). I am currently accepting sliding-scale clients at $10-$100 depending on what you can afford. I am doing in-person work, or virtual (in PA). I am available for short-term therapy (through April), with a focus on somatic experiencing: a type of therapy can support you to build capacity to show up in the world and in your body the way you want to. Somatic experiencing (SE) explores ways our bodies hold stress, overwhelm, and trauma patterns. By bringing awareness to these patterns and learning new tools, you can shift the patterns held in your body that are no longer serving you. Somatic experiencing is geared towards resolving trauma held in the body. It can be used to address specific events/trauma, ongoing stressors, or to build resilience in a more general way. If you aren’t interested in somatic therapy and would prefer someone to talk and process with, I’m also down for that. I draw upon my background in harm reduction, clinical herbalism, and personal experiences with physical and mental health struggles. My practice focuses on supporting queer and trans communities. I’m currently working towards a masters degree in social work from Smith College.
Do you ever just want someone to talk to who is not judgmental, and will offer sound advice for no other reason than wanting you to feel better? My sole job is to help you feel heard, understood and supported in whatever area in which you are struggling. I have helped people for over 25 years make their way to a more stable and healthier spot in life. Whether you are struggling with OCD, stress, depression, trauma or just not quite feeling settled, set up a time to talk.
Most people feel lost in a maze of unproductive coping strategies, so we use a personalized approach to help you find your way to mental freedom and into a life you deserve.
I offer an informal approach to therapy where you can be totally free to be who you are. I have a lot of experience in working with clients with depression, anxiety and neurodiversity (ADHD/Autism). I also would be a good fit for anyone experiencing grief and loss—either through a death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or life just hasn’t turned out the way you expected. I also understand that college can be a really tough transition and a crazy stressful time in life. I’ve been there and I would love to help you through it. Additionally, I am part of a first responder family and love to work with clients who are first responders (or love one) as I have personal and professional training and experience in this area.

I empower individuals to discover their resiliency, harness the energy of their anxiety in productive ways, and better manage negative unhelpful worry thinking. Anxiety results in the space between overestimating the probability of danger AND underestimating your ability to cope with it. My philosophy for healing is that everyone has strength and resiliency to cope with much more than they could imagine, and through therapy you discover those strengths and how to implement them. I have worked with hundreds of clients in 15+ years as a licensed therapist. Having been an active duty military spouse for 20 years, I have been licensed in 6 states and have vast experience providing therapy to diverse populations in numerous settings with various needs. This led me to a path of focusing more on primary anxiety conditions (such as general anxiety, panic, phobias) to secondary anxiety (from ADHD, autism, sensory integration) to justifiable external stressors (for example, societal, environmental, financial). I use research-proven Virtual Reality Immersion Therapy (VRIT), biofeedback, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, Solution-Focused Therapy techniques, and other evidence based models to help clients face fears and anxieties in customized imaginal and constructed virtual environments while teaching the coping skills of mindfulness, thought restructuring, and regulating body sensations. I offer weekend and evening hours, as well as the option for secure messaging and video contact between sessions for established clients. My therapeutic approach is relational, solution-focused, multiculturally informed, and evidence-based. I believe that cultivating a nurturing, nonjudgmental environment is the foundation for therapeutic outcomes. With a CBT- and DBT- informed approach, my clients utilize therapy to explore long-standing problems, navigate current stressors, and work on more effective ways to manage mental health symptoms. I strive to help my clients build a life that feels meaningful and rewarding, where they feel more at ease and more successful in various areas (and various stages). I specifically have experience working with teens and young adults with mood disorders, depression, anxiety, and self-harm. Currently seeing client through the group practice: PKO Counseling Services
Hi! I’m Annie, and I’m a licensed social worker. I often work with individuals who have experienced trauma. I use a relational & feminist framework to help clients understand the role of relationships, culture, & society throughout their lives, and how those things affect working towards healing and joy. My past experience includes crisis management, survivor advocacy, trauma psychoeducation, supportive counseling with folks who experienced sexual violence during incarceration, mindfulness group work, and community outreach. If you experienced sexual violence in the state of PA, ask me about ways to help cover your costs. I’m a certified sexual assault counselor, and I’m partially trained in EMDR, working towards certification. I have worked extensively with survivors of sexual abuse and complex trauma. I am proficient in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, the neurodiverse community, those who have experienced incarceration, and I work from an anti-diet culture perspective. I’m a person in the world who happens to be a therapist. To me, the most important part of therapy is the genuine human connection we form. I bring humor and authenticity to my practice. Outside of work, I can almost always be found with my nose in a book or finding myself a sweet treat. Let’s get to know each other and see if we are the right match!
Struggling from anxiety and/or depression? Having a hard time managing relationships? Can't get past things that have happened in your life? Want to work on problems with family members, partner or children? I know how to help! My approach to therapy begins with establishing the therapeutic relationship because I strongly believe it is the foundation to making change in your life. From there, I will integrate person-centered, trauma-informed, and skills-based approaches to help you achieve your goals. I am also trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) to help you heal from difficult experiences in order to reduce symptoms, triggers, and stressors. I have experience working with adults, children, couples, and families and bring a eclectic presence to the therapy room to meet the needs of all my clients.
