🌟 Embodied Hope For Your Journey to Healing and Growth 🌟 Dealing with trauma can be really tough, whether it's from a specific event or something that's been with you for a long time. It can affect so many parts of your life, from your mental health to your relationships to your sleep. Doing it all while keeping up with classes? That's exhausting. It helps to have someone who knows trauma work and can support you while you gauge how to pace your healing process. I provide therapy for many different types of trauma: emotional neglect, abuse, combat, complex PTSD, intimate partner violence, sexual assault/harassment, bullying, accidents, medical illness, pregnancy/birth, and toxic relationships. I'm experienced in gold standard therapies for trauma, nightmares, insomnia, anxiety, and OCD. It's important to me to help people to understand and work with - not in spite of - their nervous system. I've been through a lot of different experiences in my career, working in hospital and outpatient settings. Real progress comes from having a place where our nervous system can gradually rebuild a sense of safety, grow in flexibility, and practice new learning. My goal is to make therapy that kind of a place. I believe in using therapy strategies that are proven to be effective, but that doesn't mean sessions have to be rigid or boring. Depending on the client, I'll pull in painting, novels and movies, music, Minecraft, sports, and comedians. I'm also always learning and growing as a therapist to make sure you're getting the best care possible. Although therapy progress isn't always a straight line, learning new skills and ways of thinking almost always has ups and downs. That's completely normal. It's totally understandable if you wish you could feel better right away. I'll do my best to create a fluid plan, tailored just for you, to help you head in that direction. You don't have to be alone. Someone I value once told me that sometimes we carry hope for others until they're ready to pick it back up themselves. Let me know if you'd like to talk about what that might look like for you to be ready to carry your own hope again.
Hi! I'm Heather, and I work with trauma survivors, high achievers, and people with lots of anxiety. While I work with all kinds of trauma, my most significant experience is at the intersections of religious trauma and LGBTQ+ identities, and/or high intelligence. I like working with people who want to understand why they do the things they do, or who already know but can't seem to stop doing them.

I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner with Fine Tune Psychiatry. Our practice offers both in-person and virtual appointments, although my current schedule only accommodates virtual appointments. I strive to create a collaborative environment where we can work together to meet your treatment needs and goals.
Dr. Michele Slabaugh, DBH, MA, LPC-MHSP-S, NCC believes in using a combination of approaches to achieve the best outcomes for clients. Most sessions will have a foundation of Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and we will work together to incorporate other techniques such as Solution-Focused Brief therapy, DBT, Psychoeducation, Spirituality/Faith-Based Perspectives, Motivational Interviewing and Positive Behavior Modification approaches as requested and appropriate. After a comprehensive initial biopsychosocial assessment, a treatment plan will be developed with the aim of establishing problematic symptom relief, quality of life improvement/restoration and coping skill generalization. Dr. Slabaugh’s clinical career spans over 35 years starting out in the medical field through nursing and then a transition to the behavioral health field through her work as a services and clinical director treating medically and behaviorally challenged adults and children across all life experiences with extensive experience with complex and co-occurring conditions/diagnoses. Additionally, Dr. Slabaugh has a love for providing consultation and interim leadership support. Over the years she has served in senior level roles with multiple organizations providing clinical operations, strategic planning, innovative healthcare system transformation and project management expertise.
I think that therapy doesn’t have to be complicated. As a client you can expect to highlight your strengths, speak to your individual experience in a non-judgmental environment, receive unconditional support from someone you trust, and learn new ways to lessen your pain. I specialize in self-esteem and compassion, healthy relationships, kink and poly-friendly, diet culture recovery / Health At Every Size, and spirituality. Besides these topics, I also have extensive experience in a variety of other life issues. Contact me to discuss this more; I would like to help you through your personal challenges. Making the choice to start therapy is a deeply personal one; I wholeheartedly believe in each individual’s right to choose who they bring on their journey of healing and fulfillment. I hope that I can be your guide through that process.

Through a precision-focused, individualized approach, Fine Tune Psychiatry addresses conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and stress-related concerns that commonly interfere with student success and well-being. My practice primarily serves LGBTQ+, queer, trans, and gender-expansive adults, alongside individuals navigating complex trauma, relational patterns, and perinatal mental health concerns. My clinical approach is supportive, affirming, trauma-informed, and grounded in relational and attachment-based frameworks. I integrate an awareness of how systems of power, identity, and lived experience shape mental health, and I strive to hold both individual healing and broader context in view. I have specialized focus in complex trauma, including childhood trauma, relational trauma, and attachment wounds. Many of my clients are exploring identity development, processing experiences of minority stress, or seeking a therapeutic space where they can fully express their gender and sexual identities without needing to justify or defend them. I also provide affirming care for individuals during pregnancy, postpartum transitions, fertility challenges, pregnancy loss, and other reproductive experiences. I am particularly mindful of the unique emotional and systemic considerations that may arise for LGBTQ+ individuals and families during these periods. While no therapeutic space can be perfectly free from the impact of broader social forces, I am deeply committed to creating a therapy environment that feels brave, collaborative, and respectful. I engage in ongoing consultation, supervision, and continuing education to support culturally responsive and identity-affirming care. My work is guided by trauma-informed principles, a commitment to equity and inclusion, and respect for client autonomy and self-determination. I view therapy as a collaborative process where clients are supported in deepening self-understanding, strengthening resilience, and moving toward meaningful change.

After years in practice I can tell you one thing for certain, everyone has speed bumps in life. Sometimes the issues get bigger when we don’t deal with them. And sometimes we just need help processing so it will stop being on repeat in our mind. It doesn’t have to be so hard. Let’s find the best path forward for you so you can be your best self.
As a therapist, I encourage you to bring the “messiest” parts of yourself into the room during our sessions. I strive to create a safe, yet empowering space for all my clients, especially for those who hold marginalized identities. I let you set the pace of treatment and help you build confidence in your innate abilities to persevere and heal during difficult seasons of life. I also encourage you to provide feedback throughout our time together, so that we can make treatment as impactful and positive as possible. I believe that the most important aspect of our work together involves building a strong therapeutic relationship, so you can also expect a deep interest in you as a person outside of presenting concerns or diagnoses. Feel free to reach out if I sound like a good fit for you and your current needs. Either way, I wish you luck on your healing journey!
I am a licensed psychologist with experience and a passion working in college mental health. I believe that a strong therapeutic rapport is the heart of meaningful growth in therapy. When we feel truly seen, heard, and understood, we are better able to explore our experiences, reflect on our patterns, and take steps toward change. My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe, respected, and comfortable to be themselves, no matter what challenges they may be facing. My approach to therapy is person-centered, which means I value each client’s unique perspective and believe that you are the expert of your own life. I work alongside my clients, offering support, guidance, and encouragement as we navigate the journey together. I strive to meet people where they are, honoring their pace while helping them uncover new insights and tools for growth. I hold a Master’s degree in Art Therapy with a Specialization in Counseling and am a Registered Art Therapist. Creativity can be a powerful way to explore feelings and experiences that are difficult to put into words. In sessions, I often incorporate art and the creative process to help clients process emotions, gain clarity, and express themselves in new ways. Whether through drawing, painting, collage, or other forms of artmaking, this approach allows for deeper self-understanding and healing beyond traditional talk therapy. I also bring personal experience to my work, having navigated the loss of my father at a young age. Experiencing grief firsthand has given me a deep understanding of the complexities of loss. This experience informs my approach to grief therapy, allowing me to connect with clients in a compassionate and authentic way. In addition to my art therapy work, I am currently pursuing my Animal-Assisted Therapy Certificate. I am excited to soon integrate my therapy dog-in-training, Bear, into sessions as a comforting and supportive presence. Animals can offer a unique kind of connection and grounding that supports emotional regulation and overall well-being. I have experience working with children, teens, and adults in a variety of settings, including partial hospitalization, inpatient, residential treatment, and outpatient therapy. My specialties include supporting individuals through anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and significant life transitions. I am especially passionate about working with clients during times of change—whether it’s starting a new school, transitioning to college, beginning a new career, or navigating changes in relationships or identity. No matter your reason for seeking therapy, my hope is to create an environment where you feel safe to explore your inner world, discover your strengths, and find meaningful ways to move forward.
