I graduated with a bachelor’s degree of psychology, then went on to obtain a Master’s degree of social work and appropriate licensure. I work primarily with adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck or burned out- especially those who are used to being the “strong one” for everyone else. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship stress, or the quiet exhaustion that comes from constantly holding it together. I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can slow down, gain clarity, and build practical tools that actually fit your life. My approach is collaborative and grounded in evidence-based practices, while still honoring your lived experience. Therapy with me is both compassionate and goal oriented, but I am not afraid to challenge you. We process the hard things, but we also work toward meaningful change. If you’re ready to feel more steady, confident, and in control of your life, I’d be honored to support you.

I have been providing therapy services for adults struggling with a range of issues including substance use disorders, problems with self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief/loss, as well as anger/stress management problems and more. I have gained this experience working in a variety of therapeutic settings including long-term residential, inpatient and outpatient agencies. I helped the young adult population of the university develop self-efficacy and to better manage stress. More recently I worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings for substance use and co-occurring disorders. In therapy, I use a person-centered approached utilizing cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused technique. My approach is to provide a soothing space and offer the environment you need to talk through life’s challenges. “Life on life’s terms” can be complicated and everyone needs a place to process difficulties. My hope is to be part of your “We” so that you have the professional support needed to begin to work through challenges and find solutions to better manage stress and the emotions connected to that stress.

Hi, I’m Shannon Mick, NCC, LPC, founder of Finish Stronger Counseling. I provide compassionate virtual therapy to adults across Pennsylvania who are ready to overcome anxiety, trauma, and eating disorders—especially endurance runners and athletes who want to feel strong in both mind and body. As a semi-professional ultramarathoner and assistant running coach myself, I truly understand the unique mental challenges that come with the sport: DNFs, DNSs, injury recovery, training balance, body image, and the relentless drive to push your limits. My holistic, movement-informed approach blends evidence-based therapy with real-world strategies that honor the mind-body connection athletes live every day. Using CBT, DBT, and ACT, I help clients address root causes, build resilience, and develop the mindset tools they need to cross every finish line—on the trail and in life. Whether you’re navigating performance anxiety, rebuilding after a setback, or simply wanting to feel like yourself again, my goal is simple: help you finish stronger. I offer a free 10–15 minute phone consult so we can see if we’re the right fit. An email is okay, too. Let’s get started—your next strong chapter is waiting. Mindset and mental wellness coaching is another service that I provide to ultramarathon runners in the U.S.
It was at PSU that I decided that I wanted to help others. After graduating from the Human Development and Family Studies program, I decided to further my education by attending graduate school at Loyola University Maryland. There I obtained my Master's in Counseling Psychology and completed additional coursework so that I could eventually become a Licensed Professional Counselor. Over the last 16 years I have had the pleasure of working with children, teens, young adults and adults. I have experience working with college students and understand the unique pressures that PhD candidates face. I strive to provide an environment that clients feel safe, supported, and validated. In turn, this will lead to a positive therapeutic relationship in which self-reflection and processing can take place. My goal is for you to recognize your strengths uncover your hidden potential. I hope to help you with whatever obstacles or challenges you may be facing. Please view my website for more information on my therapeutic approach, a look at my office, and insurances I accept.

I work with college students and young adults navigating anxiety, relationships, and life transitions. My work is rooted in helping you build resilience, insight, and develop solid action methods while navigating the changes that come along in life. Whether it’s relationship challenges or uncertainty about the future, anxiety can leave you feeling exhausted and alone. I’ve found that gaining insight while identifying obstacles and problematic patterns coupled with evidenced-based tools and lots of creativity can help people build lasting life changes. My style reflects a rich sense of curiosity and warmth. I believe that humor blended with lots of respect and smart strategies can be a highly effective therapeutic tool! My goal for therapy is to help each person function at their best through all sorts of situations that pop up in life. Regardless of the type of change, change is going to happen to you at some point in life (it’ll happen a few times!) and I believe counseling can be a healthy way to navigate that transition as smoothly as possible. I am looking forward to meeting you!

I often work with individuals in recovery, teens, college students, young adults, and more. I work with LGBTQIA+ individuals focusing on self-discovery, empowerment, and identity exploration. I also work with individuals struggling with religious trauma or spiritual concerns.
For nearly 20 years, I have worked with adolescents and young adults who have anxiety, mood disorders, gender identity issues, family conflicts and trauma from many different backgrounds. There is no single case that is identical to another, and everyone has their own unique story. I want to hear your story so that I may join your journey to heal. My main approaches are CBT, Family Systems Theory, EMDR, and somatic approaches. I also incorporate Eastern philosophy and focus on the mind-body connection to assist clients in understanding their challenges and rediscovering their authentic selves. As a person who came to the United States as a teen, I personally understand the pressure to succeed, the challenges to navigate the US college system, and the loneliness that limited resources and guidance that first generation college students go through. I have also advocated for people of color and the LGTBQ+ population in an effort to improve equality and deal with human rights issues many years. I strive to provide a safe environment for all of my clients without judgment. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
