Therapists for college students near Temple University
Therapy is a process. When looking for a therapist, you want someone who can see your goals and provide insight into how they can become reality. Therapy isn’t something that you can just come into one session and be magically healed. When I say therapy is a process, I mean, that therapy comes with challenges, but also rewards. If you can be completely open and honest in this process, I can promise that I will not only work to be a guiding light in this fog you are walking through, but also someone who is going to challenge you and help you bring your inner dialogue out. When I am working with a client, I will bring strategies that you can implement, challenging questions, and overwhelming support. There are going to be days where you may feel like giving up on your ideas, dreams, or passions but I want to remind you that resilience isn’t just about being able to take pain, but resilience is fighting for a future you want. I work with a multitude of specialities including beauty standards, colorism, stress from the political climate, trauma responses, parenting and how your childhood impacts this, social anxiety. Some of the specialties that I focus on are Beauty standard/colorism. We live in a society where European standards seem to be the beauty standard but beauty comes in different shades as well as different shapes. It’s not society‘s job to tell you what makes you beautiful, it’s your own job to remind you that you are beautiful the way you are And how you interpret that in your day-to-day life. Identity also plays a part in my specialties. Being a biracial woman myself, I hold space for Multiple aspects of identity. Every person you know has intersectional pieces of their identity and what I work on is understanding those pieces and how they work to frame your decisions, choices and life. Working through trauma experiences can be difficult. Things that you may not even think to be triggers such as certain sounds you hear, a song that plays at a restaurant, or even the smell of a cologne can completely change your mood. I specialize in working through trauma experiences due to incest. Especially if these experiences are continuing to impact you through the role of a parent. As a parent, you’re already going through mental gymnastics, whether or not you should let your kid out to be at a sleepover party or finding that they have a group of friends that were similar to yours as a kid. Rather than internalizing these fears, I want to create an open discussion where we can process your feelings and thoughts, give you validity to your emotions, but also give you the better understanding that all these emotions still impact your child. Lastly, in the climate that we’re in, politics should not be an issue we avoid. Whether you are on the right or left side, there are things that are happening in current news today that may be impacting you emotionally, financially, and maybe even physically. As your therapist, I’m here to not only just listen to you but also give you the chance to have your voice heard even if you have family with opposing views, friends with opposing views or even neighbors. The therapeutic process does not need to be one that is shortened by fear. Coming into a therapy session, I want you to feel like you have room to talk and that someone is actually listening. This isn’t just an hour of your time that you hope your therapist is making it a safe space but it’s an hour of your time that you were working towards a goal, something that you want in life. I don’t want to just create a safe space for you, I want to help you create a space where your inner thoughts can be heard, validated and respected.

I provide experienced, thoughtful care to young adults and college students navigating a wide range of challenges. Whether you’re feeling stuck, anxious, disconnected, overwhelmed, or simply seeking clarity and direction, therapy can help you better understand yourself, shift unhelpful patterns, and create meaningful change. My approach is holistic, warm, and relational. I work collaboratively with each client to uncover the underlying forces shaping their current concerns, helping them identify choice points and reconnect with their strengths. While I work with a wide range of presenting issues, I have a special focus on treating trauma in its many forms. I am especially committed to providing safe, affirming, and effective care for survivors of sexual abuse and assault, and for those carrying the long shadows of past experiences. Regardless of the content, I approach every session with cultural humility, clinical attunement, and deep respect for each client’s lived experience. Are you emotionally exhausted, experiencing unsettling transitions or struggling with feelings of depression, anxiety or grief? Are you coping with toxicity within your relationships or having difficulties adjusting to the demands of academic life? My clients learn to use their suffering as guiding information, identifying imbalances and creating a greater impetus toward life change. I serve those seeking a deeper understanding and mastery of their life journey. We will work to increase intimacy and alignment with the core of your essential, authentic self. The archetypal language taps into the universal motivational patterns inherent in both the individual and collective psyches. Utilizing astrological theory specifically allows us to see pinnacle moments of growth potential evident throughout the life cycle, allowing for more conscious use of our efforts toward self-betterment and greater management of our unique motivational personality structure. With that, this theory underlies the tenets of a meaningful and synchronistic universe which can be collaborated with to co-create a more purposeful life and to help with radical acceptance of the things we cannot change. We may use this approach, along with other interventions, to help identify and integrate the disowned parts of the self which lead to recurrent negative patterns. I also specialize in treating victims of narcissistic abuse as they heal from relational trauma and learn to seek self-validation and challenge co-dependencies, honoring one's own limits and divesting from the toxic dynamics within relationships. I have a Masters Degree in Social Work (2006) and practice as a Telehealth Licensed Clinical Social Worker in CT and PA. I also have certification in Conscious Evolution in Archetypal Cosmology via the Graduate Institute (2011), in Archetypal Astrology and Cosmology via the Institute of Transpersonal and Archetypal Studies (2019) and a Certificate in Applied Archetypal Astrology from Pacifica Graduate Institute (2023). I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and a Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider (CTMH).
I offer individual therapy on issues including anxiety, depression, identity exploration, self-esteem, relationships, and life transitions. I am also proficient in Spanish. My practice provides a non-judgmental, compassionate environment where you will be not just listened to, but truly heard. I approach therapy through feminist, strength-based, client-centered, and relational frameworks to empower you on your path forward. At its core, this means that nothing happens in a vacuum, our lives are impacted by our history, environments, systems of oppression, relationships, and our own identities. My goal is to create a collaborative space where you can connect more fully with yourself and gain the insight and tools to overcome challenges and live your most authentic, fulfilling life.
Are you or a loved one feeling stuck – uncertain about navigating changes in your life, how you see yourself, or how to reconnect with those close to you? When we feel stuck, taking steps forward can feel like a monumental task. We can work together to break down your thoughts and uncertainties, determine the best way forward, and put practical strategies into action, to empower you to create the life you want for yourself. Through individual, parent, or family sessions, we will untangle your thoughts, improve your self-esteem, and take tangible steps towards sustainable change. Neurodiversity (Autism & ADHD) affirming and LGBTQ+ friendly, I always take a person-centric approach. College can be exciting, and overwhelming. Between classes, relationships, work, and figuring out what’s next, it’s easy to feel stressed, anxious, or stuck. The Nurturing Circle is a mental health private practice dedicated to supporting college students and young adults as they navigate this season of life. We offer a safe, non-judgmental space to talk about anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, relationships, identity, self-esteem, and life transitions. Therapy at The Nurturing Circle is collaborative, down-to-earth, and tailored to your goals, whether you’re looking for coping skills, deeper self-understanding, or simply a place to feel heard. Our approach is affirming, student-centered, and focused on helping you build resilience, confidence, and balance; both in college and beyond. You don’t have to have everything figured out to start therapy. Showing up is enough.
My therapeutic approach is relational, solution-focused, multiculturally informed, and evidence-based. I believe that cultivating a nurturing, nonjudgmental environment is the foundation for therapeutic outcomes. With a CBT- and DBT- informed approach, my clients utilize therapy to explore long-standing problems, navigate current stressors, and work on more effective ways to manage mental health symptoms. I strive to help my clients build a life that feels meaningful and rewarding, where they feel more at ease and more successful in various areas (and various stages). I specifically have experience working with teens and young adults with mood disorders, depression, anxiety, and self-harm. Currently seeing client through the group practice: PKO Counseling Services
The clients I work best with usually have one thing in common: they are tired of feeling like they have to hold it all together alone. Many are high-achieving students who look “fine” on the outside but are quietly dealing with anxiety, burnout, mood changes, family stress, relationship challenges, or just the pressure of trying to figure life out. Some feel overwhelmed. Some feel unmotivated. Some feel like they’ve lost parts of themselves along the way. I’m down to earth. You don’t have to show up polished or perfect with me. You can show up as you are. I’m highly skilled in mental health treatment, including therapy and medication management when appropriate. If medication is part of your journey, I will explain your options clearly so you feel informed and in control. But I also believe healing is bigger than prescriptions alone. I deeply value creative expression as a form of therapy. Art therapy doesn’t have to mean sitting in a formal art session—it can look like exploring crochet, dancing in your room, listening to music that helps you process emotion, or writing your thoughts out when your mind feels loud. These practices matter. They regulate the nervous system. They give voice to feelings that are hard to name. I practice what I teach. I’m relatable, and I personally use creative outlets to manage my own mental wellness. I believe in realistic, sustainable coping—not just clinical advice. If you’re someone who wants support that blends real conversation, clinical expertise, and creative exploration, we might be a good fit. You deserve care that sees your whole self. You can also connect with me on Instagram at @mothriftynp, where I share mental health insights and creative inspiration.
I thoroughly enjoy working young adult clients. This stage of life is filled with change, exploration of self, and forging of independence -- this can also mean that it's not always easy to ask for help, and a degree of hesitancy exists to allow even the most loving family members and friends into their worlds. I regularly work with clients that are struggling with major life transitions, depression, anxiety, or eating disorders. My clients are often seeking safety, understanding, and freedom from their negative thoughts. The foundation of my approach is person-centered and humanistic. I believe in the healing nature of the therapeutic relationship and a non-judgmental space to process life experiences.

Hi, I'm Ashley! Please feel free to self schedule or send an inquiry on my website for a consult or appointment. I work best with students who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, perfectionism, and constant overthinking. You might find yourself spiraling with “what if” thoughts, feeling like nothing you do is ever good enough, or stressing nonstop about exams, relationships, or the future. Some students I support struggle with panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, or relationship anxiety (like ROCD), which can feel isolating and confusing. Whether you're avoiding work because of fear of failure, checking things over and over, or feeling mentally exhausted from managing school and life, it doesn't have to stay this way. I help students break free from these patterns using active, evidence-based therapy. Together, we’ll build tools to quiet your inner critic, manage stress, and get back to living fully, not just surviving college. Virtual and in-person sessions are available. I’m here to support you in showing up for the life you want.

Paul specializes in using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help people work through the pain and suffering that comes along with living a fully human life. The idea is not that you are broken, messed up, and need to be fixed, nor is it about what is wrong with you. The approach taken is more about what has happened to you to bring you to where you are today. The primary focus of using ACT is to find a healthier more workable way to respond to all of the painful thoughts, emotions, memories, and physical sensations we experience as humans, and then channel that pain into building a thriving life that is worthy of who we are. Paul engages in this work from a place of compassion, patience, and unconditional positive regard that sees people as they are and not as their struggles or past mistakes.
