You don’t have to be in crisis to start therapy. If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected in your relationship, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, support can make a meaningful difference. I primarily work with adults and couples navigating anxiety, depression, stress, communication challenges, boundary setting, self-worth concerns, and relationship or family conflict. Many clients come to me wanting to improve communication, rebuild trust, break generational cycles, or feel more secure within themselves and their relationships. Together, we focus on strengthening emotional regulation, deepening self-awareness, and creating healthier, more connected partnerships. I provide a culturally responsive and affirming space, especially for individuals within BIPOC and Latinx communities balancing personal growth with cultural and family expectations. Therapy is collaborative, tailored to your needs, and grounded in compassion and evidence-based practices.

I am so glad you stopped by! I am eager to work with college students, like yourself, and have a background in working with both undergrad and grad students in the Dallas area. In therapy, I offer a safe and confidential relationship, where you can hope to gain self-esteem, relevant skills, and personal strength, learning to more fully trust yourself and others. A great deal of my clients are wrestling with depression, anxiety, and self-worth due to family/childhood issues and relational struggles that tend to become more apparent once they have entered college. Together, we dig into these hard conversations and I help you relate differently to anxiety, pain, fear, and sadness, while also coming alongside you in creating the life you desire. Finding a therapist you connect with is an important aspect of effective therapy. I will serve you with respect and empathy while encouraging you in your personal journey of growth. I am both honored and committed to meeting you where you are, learning where you want to go, and helping you find the best way there. I hope to talk to you soon!

Treatment should be customized to meet the needs of the clients, because although more than one client may have a similar diagnosis everyone should be treated as an individual. For those interested in a higher standard of care whether you are managing stress, struggles with sleep, depression, anxiety, or another mental health challenge feel free to contact me via email to set up a consultation. If you are at this website you have already taken a step in the process towards change, so let's take the next step together.

Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you're carrying stress, uncertainty, or emotional pain. My goal working with clients is to create a supportive, collaborative space where you feel seen, understood, and valued just as you are. I work with clients who are navigating life, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, identity exploration, etc. I take a strengths-based, relational approach to therapy, meaning I focus not only on the difficulties you're facing, but also on the resilience, insight, and abilities you already bring into the room. Together, we build on those strengths to foster growth, healing, and meaningful change. My work is grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection. I prioritize developing a genuine, trusting therapeutic relationship where clients feel safe to explore their experiences at their own pace. I meet you where you are at! As someone who is half Turkish, I also value cultural identity, background, and lived experiences as essential parts of the therapeutic process. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply seeking greater self-understanding, therapy can be a place to find that and I would be honored to support you in that.

College can feel like a lot—figuring out who you are, juggling classes, friendships, family expectations, and the pressure to “have it all together.” If you’ve been feeling anxious, disconnected, self-critical, or just plain overwhelmed, you’re not alone. I love working with students who are realizing their needs, boundaries, and intuition matter—even if they’re still figuring out what that actually means. If you need is space to breathe, slow down, and reconnect with who you really are, I would love to support you. My style is warm, conversational, and collaborative—I don’t lecture or “fix” you. Instead, I sit with you, help you untangle old patterns, and explore new ways of moving through life that actually feel like you. Reach out and let's begin!

Hello, my name is Kristen Cooper MacDiarmid. I am a licensed professional counselor that works with children, adolescents, and adults. Whether through play therapy as a child or talk therapy as an adult, I can help you find techniques that will work for you to help you manage the daily stressors of life, make radical life changes, or to work through trauma. Healing begins in a space where you feel heard, respected, and accepted just as you are. As a bilingual (English and Spanish) therapist, I support adults who have experienced hurtful or unhealthy relationships, including emotional or physical abuse, and are navigating the impact these experiences can have on their lives. I understand that culture, family, and personal experiences shape how we view ourselves and our relationships, and I strive to provide care that honors your unique story and values. My goal is to help you reconnect with your strengths, create healthier relationships, and move toward the life you want. My approach is warm, supportive, and empowering, with a focus on helping you recognize your strengths and create meaningful change. I work collaboratively with clients to better understand their experiences, heal from past hurts, and develop tools for building confidence, setting boundaries, and creating healthier patterns in their relationships. Therapy is a process we navigate together, at a pace that feels comfortable and meaningful for you. You don't have to have it all together to start therapy. I'd be honored to support you along your path towards healing!

Y’all. Adulting is hard. You might be finishing school, moving out, starting a career, or trying to make big life choices that feel like they’ll define your future. It’s a lot. Between the pressure to “have your sh** together” and constantly comparing yourself to others, it’s easy to feel lost, anxious, depressed, or stuck. Stepping into adulthood can be exciting–and overwhelming. No matter how much you’ve prepared yourself for this moment, change is tough and let’s be real–adulting is hard. Growing up doesn’t come with a roadmap ( I know, I wish it did too.), but that’s because everyone’s path can look different. Many young adults come to therapy for help with challenges like: -Anxiety or stress about school, work, the future, and feeling “behind” -Overthinking and self-doubt that won’t turn off -Difficulty making decisions or feeling stuck in “what’s next” -Identity exploration–figuring out values, goals, or sense of self -Relationship changes with friends, family, or partners -Depression from not feeling like you’re good enough -Burnout from trying to do it all -Life transitions, like moving out, finishing college or starting a new job These challenges are adult growing pains, like when your legs used to hurt before you grew a couple inches. But you know, emotionally. Maybe you also have some baggage from the past that can make navigating these challenges even more difficult (Thanks parents!).

As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and Texas and a Licensed Addiction Counselor in Colorado I have made the commitment to help others as they face adversity so as to develop a loving and compassionate relationship with themselves. I bring a wealth of experience and specialized training in addictions and mental health to my practice and there is one common theme I have noticed throughout my career, which is our self-talk. We are our own worst enemies, and this wreaks havoc on our self-esteem. My therapeutic approach is person centered, non-judgmental, and collaborative. I tailor my counseling to each individual client and will use several interventions in practice. I am well versed in CBT, DBT, and MI. I also have a background utilizing Positive Psychology, SFBT, and Crisis Intervention. I invite you to a different therapeutic experience where I'll meet you where you are at. By providing a safe and supportive environment, my goal is to provide a holistic and person-centered therapeutic experience where you become empowered to build resilience, achieve personal growth, and become better equipped to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
