Therapists for college students near Rice University
As a recent college graduate and former college athlete, I understand the unique pressure that comes with balancing academics, performance, relationships, and identity in today’s fast-paced world. College can be an exciting season of growth, but it can also feel overwhelming — especially when you’re striving to excel in the classroom, compete at a high level, maintain friendships or dating relationships, and navigate constant comparison fueled by social media, technology, and AI. I specialize in working with high-achieving college students who struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, body image concerns, eating disorders, and the internal pressure to always perform. Whether you’re pushing for top grades, managing the physical and mental demands of athletics, or silently battling self-doubt despite external success, I provide a space where you can step out of performance mode and show up as your full, authentic self. You don’t have to sacrifice your mental health to succeed. My goal is to help you build resilience, develop a healthier relationship with achievement, strengthen your identity beyond performance, and pursue excellence in a way that feels sustainable and aligned with who you truly are.

Ramir's Counseling Center of Hope was created by a Licensed Professional Counselor who had a vision to encourage, motivate and provide access to tools needed to overcome current circumstances. Ramir stands for Rising Above My Inner Rival. Ramir is confirmation that we can accomplish anything regardless of the opposition we face. On March 7, 2018 the Ramir's Counseling Center of Hope, PLLC was established and confirmation was received that the storm was not meant to last always. As a child, mental health was present in my family and thus prepared me for the dynamics of not only the diagnosis but more importantly the person and those that surround them. Growing up, I played a part and everyone was treated the same regardless of their mental status, pill count, change in mood, IQ, anxiety level or temporary isolation that would occur. We, as a family, understood what it would take to maintain our family. My goal as a Licensed Professional Counselor is to provide an environment that reciprocates what my family and community offered. There is no special formula that can erase your situation but there is a way to get through it. The Inner Rival is the battle we have within, which is usually hidden from the world. Although at times, what we are facing is situational, it has an effect on us internally. The purpose of Ramir's Counseling Center of Hope, PLLC, is to work with each client to expose, address and conquer whatever that may be. So, I ask, are you ready? Below you will find my educational background. Education: University of North Texas Bachelor of Arts in Psychology Minor in Social Science Certificate in Substance Abuse Studies Amberton University Master of Arts in Professional Counseling *I am a Therapist licensed to practice in the state of Texas.

Hi, I’m Rachel, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 10 years of experience, including 5 years working with college students. I help individuals find relief from insomnia, depression, anxiety, and relationship struggles. I understand how these challenges can affect every part of your life, from your mood and motivation to your sleep and sense of connection with others. My approach is warm, collaborative, and personalized. I take the time to truly listen and work with you to identify what you need—no one-size-fits-all strategies. If you’re a college student feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck, you’re not alone and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. Many students I work with appear capable and driven on the outside, yet internally feel exhausted, pressured, or unsure they can keep going at the same pace. Constant stress, anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, or self-doubt can quietly build until it starts to affect your mental health, relationships, sleep, or academic performance. I work with college students and young adults who are navigating high expectations, academic pressure, and major life transitions. You may be adjusting to college, questioning your direction, struggling to balance responsibilities, or feeling like you are never doing enough. Therapy can be a place to slow things down, make sense of what you are experiencing, and begin feeling more grounded and in control again. My approach to therapy is collaborative, supportive, and focused on helping you feel better in your day-to-day life. I take time to understand your experiences so we can identify what is contributing to your stress and develop practical tools you can actually use. Together, we work on managing anxiety, reducing overwhelm, strengthening self-esteem, and building healthier ways to cope so you can move forward with greater clarity and confidence. Clients often describe me as calm, approachable, and easy to talk to. I aim to create a space where you do not have to have everything figured out and where you can be honest without fear of judgment. Whether this is your first time in therapy or you are returning with new goals, you will be met with understanding, consistency, and support. Alongside coping skills, we focus on self-reflection and insight to help you understand patterns that may be holding you back and create meaningful, lasting change. If you’re unsure whether therapy is the right next step or want to see if we’re a good fit, you’re welcome to schedule a 15-minute consultation. This gives you a chance to ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and decide whether working together feels right for you. Reaching out for support does not mean you are failing. For many students, it is the step that helps them feel steadier, more confident, and better equipped to handle the demands of college life. You deserve support during this chapter, and you do not have to go through it alone.
Hello, My name is Heather Allen. The clients with whom I work best are those who are ready to begin working on themselves. I enjoy working with clients from varied backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. I have been to college and am aware of many of the issues that affect students who are attending. I look forward to working with you in determining your full potential.
The clients I see are sometimes in college experiencing feelings of overwhelm or feeling low. These clients describe their challenges as feeling, “como con miedo,” and also, “no se que tengo.” Other clients I see are future counselors who are at the beginning of their careers and facing imposter syndrome ( “I must’ve slipped through the cracks to get to where I am now”), self-criticism (“Why can’t I get my life together!"), or burnout (feeling fatigued and like you can never catch up). These clients are usually part of activist movements or workplaces and I believe in helping the healers that are out in the world making a positive impact on society. I benefited greatly from my own experiences with counseling when I was in grad school (still do) and I hope to provide the same non-judgmental opportunities to cry or laugh or both to future clients. In my work I value humility, curiosity, self-compassion and humor. I believe these are needed to provide authenticity and support at a time when people starting out in their fields of work are taking in new information that is stretching/challenging perspectives and care for the self is a necessity to continue doing challenging work.
