Everyone struggles with relationship issues, anxiety/worry, work stress, substance use, or uncomfortable feelings. It can also be extremely difficult to find balance and perspective sometimes. My goal is to provide a safe and organized framework for identifying these problems and developing new skills or ways of thinking about them. Ultimately, I help my clients develop the tools needed to manage independently and live a life they're excited about. Due to the current state of the world, I'm also working with a lot of individuals who are feeling isolated and cut off from their "normal" support systems to help them manage life's issues. I grew up in the Dallas area, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in psychology. I then attended graduate school at Assumption University because of its affiliation with the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy. My clinical training was thus focused on a cognitive behavioral approach to treating mental health disorders like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder as well as substance abuse issues. I was also intensively trained during my internship in Dialectical-Behavior Therapy and I utilize this skills-based approach to help adolescents and adults struggling to build and maintain relationships, manage their emotions or crises effectively. My approach to therapy is problem-focused and very much operates in the present. I collaborate with clients to identify goals, develop skills, and implement them in a structured way. The area of focus in therapy tends to be on reframing thoughts or changing behaviors with the end goal of improving mood or circumstance.

We’re here for you every step of the way! As a board certified psychiatric NP in Texas and New Mexico , I'm dedicated, compassionate and provide the best care to my clients and help them thrive in life

As a recent college graduate and former college athlete, I understand the unique pressure that comes with balancing academics, performance, relationships, and identity in today’s fast-paced world. College can be an exciting season of growth, but it can also feel overwhelming — especially when you’re striving to excel in the classroom, compete at a high level, maintain friendships or dating relationships, and navigate constant comparison fueled by social media, technology, and AI. I specialize in working with high-achieving college students who struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, body image concerns, eating disorders, and the internal pressure to always perform. Whether you’re pushing for top grades, managing the physical and mental demands of athletics, or silently battling self-doubt despite external success, I provide a space where you can step out of performance mode and show up as your full, authentic self. You don’t have to sacrifice your mental health to succeed. My goal is to help you build resilience, develop a healthier relationship with achievement, strengthen your identity beyond performance, and pursue excellence in a way that feels sustainable and aligned with who you truly are.

Knowing from an early age that I wanted to connect with people on a deeper level, a career in counseling became a must. I was born and grew up in Belgium and moved to the states as a pre-teen, which was a tough transition at times. I quickly discovered my love for connecting with others was no different on the other side of the world. This strengthened my belief that cultural background, race, sex, age, etc does not make a difference in our suffering but that there is hope for each one of us. It is my belief that the difficulties that we face stem from our inner dialogue and extreme responses in acknowledgment to triggering situations. It is my goal to help the client explore such thoughts and reactions by developing coping skills and new ways of thinking in order for the client to feel more at ease and happier in life. I previously had the privilege of leading groups for those suffering from alcohol and drug addiction, as well as emotional dysregulation issues, and have discovered an appreciation for walking through such a challenging time with the client. It is my hope to do the same for you.

Do you ever feel like no matter how hard you try, you are unable to see yourself as more than a body? That diet culture is so deeply ingrained in our society that it feels impossible to escape? You are not alone. We live in a world that has convinced us that pursuing an unrealistic thin ideal is the key to happiness. That if we "work hard enough," that void we constantly feel, will eventually go away. That's why my goal is to help you reach a place of acceptance so that you can experience a more fulfilling life, free from diet culture and the toxicity that ensues. I specialize in treating children (as young as 10), adolescents, and adults struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, body dysmorphia, and other related disorders. As a bilingual therapist, I am able to conduct therapy sessions in Spanish. While my primary specialty is eating disorders, I also help individuals better cope with anxiety, manage life transitions, and develop a healthier sense of self. I believe that in order to fully heal, we must get to the root cause - exploring childhood trauma and interpersonal relationships is a big part of the work I do with my clients.
Welcome! My name is "Dr. Ed." I'm a Ph.D.-Diplomate in Clinical Social Work from the University of Houston and Governors State. In our multicultural world, therapy is a safe place to respect your values and honor your strengths! √ I'm 4.6 rated with 60+ reviews on HealthGrades, United Health, Aetna and Cigna. My treatment philosophy is built on respect and appreciation of the dignity for each person I work with. Let me emphasize this one more time, YOU don't have to settle for a poor self-image from negative experiences nor settle with poor relationships with your family, spouse, kids and yourself. Let's figure it out..together.. My therapy specialty is working with adults, couples, families, and pre-teens who are dealing with feelings of rejection, grief, and situation anxiousness-including balancing family and work-life stressors. I greatly appreciate listening to the adult male voice in relationships and families. Learning ways to bridge the gap in communication styles between men and women, parents and children, is important work! Counseling should be affordable and accessible to everyone. We all need an ally to lean on at times. Struggles and hardships can be a natural part of life. We all need support as we navigate through stressful times. I see my role as a therapist as one of a caregiver, a provider of strength, and a collaborative problem-solver. I have experience with a wide variety of people, including individuals without a diagnosis to those diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and anxiety and depression. My practice is LGBT safe and affirming. I also have extensive experience helping people throughout the processes of both voluntary and involuntary termination of pregnancy. I enjoy providing support to my clients in an open-minded, encouraging, relaxed, non-judgmental way. It is important to me that my clients know that I support them, and that I do not judge. Life can be tough and overwhelming at times. Seeking counseling is a brave step toward a new outlook, I applaud you for that decision, and I am here to help. I pride myself on being accepting, easygoing, discreet, and affordable. I am currently accepting new clients, and I have a flexible schedule, so if you’re considering counseling, please call me. I’m happy to answer questions, provide information, and see if we’re a good fit. Supervised by Beck A Munsey, PhD, LPC-S
