Figuring out identity, establishing meaningful relationships, and navigating through changing independent roles while on the quest for financial stability, can be an overwhelming mix of demands. Add spiritual and/or cultural expectations to the blend and you might just feel like quitting before you even start! It’s a wonder why anxiety, depression and other forms of addictive “coping” exist. Need some help addressing these symptoms while managing life’s demands? Say less.

I'll support you in discovering meaningful coping skills, exploring the values that are important to you, and understanding how to hold boundaries that help keep you safe. You'll learn to feel good about your decisions and confidently say no to what no longer serves you or lifts you up. Stop living within other people's comfort zones. It's time to take off the mask allow space for the whole, true "you" to arise. Reach out to me today for a free phone or video consultation to learn how you can take back control of your life and live more authentically to the person you want to be, not who others expect you to be.
Do you want to take control of your life? It may be difficult for you to sleep, eat, or manage your emotions. Have you found yourself crying or feeling agitated? You worry that the pain and disappointments from the past will always impact your happiness. Perhaps, you are in a relationship, and you find yourself thinking that you love this person, but it's just not working. The life you see for yourself includes a "rich" love, where you are able to communicate and meet each other's needs. In this new life, you have the skills to handle issues and manage your fears. You want and deserve to have peace and joy. If you can relate, I'm here for you. My intent is to help you gain the things you want in life, whether to obtain a goal, improve a relationship, or achieve peace. I utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) to help change behaviors and manage anxiety and depression. I also use Christian Cognitive Behavior Therapy with clients who rely on their faith to help them cope with life. My other go-to tools include Reality Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness techniques. Let's schedule a brief phone consult to determine if we can make a good working partnership. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Have you been resonating with the autistic experience that you're seeing others talk about? Are you suffering from autistic burnout after a lifetime of heavily masking your “real self”? Do you hold yourself to ridiculously high standards, then feel defeated when things don’t go perfectly? Is your connection with others not quite what you pictured it being at this stage in life? Does work completely exhaust you, but you can’t quite find a job that lights you up? I offer Autism evaluations and therapy to adults.
Throughout most of our culture boys are not given much opportunity to explore their inner worlds, identify and express emotions or encouraged to build supportive and robust social networks. As these boys become men it leaves them lacking skills to know when and how to reach out for support. This is where I come in. I help guide young men through life's challenges by teaching skills that will help them in all facets of their life. Tired of feeling stuck, alone and not knowing how or what to change. Book your free consult through my website and let's see if working together is the best next step for you. No need to go it alone anymore.

I have been working in North Carolina for the past 34 years. I work with clients ages 12 and up, focusing on depression, anxiety, grief, and career development. I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and my Master's in School Counseling. I worked as a counselor in the school system for 28 years before deciding to practice therapy full-time. I believe that the foundation to all therapy is to develop a trusting and non-judgemental relationship. I use a variety of approaches based on client's needs that we both feel will be the most effective.

When you're struggling with an eating disorder, anxiety, or depression, the idea of opening up and trusting another person can be HARD. I know that you've likely heard so many messages throughout your life about what you should do and who you should be, but I don't think that "shoulds" have a place in therapy. Who do you WANT to be? How do you WANT to feel? That is way more important than any shoulds, and I would be honored to walk alongside you as you start to find answers to these questions over time. Together, we can unravel those expectations - what you've been told it means to be healthy or successful or fill in the blank - and get to the heart of what really matters to you and what you need. Being a human is messy, and as your therapist, I'll be right there in that space with you as a human first, therapist second. Let's explore what it means to be humans in a world that expects perfection (which doesn't exist!) and pushes you to grind until you're too burned out to do the things you actually want to do. Whether you realize it today or not, you deserve peace. I have many tools in my toolbox to support you, but to me the most important thing I can do is to provide you a safe space to explore your experience in its entirety at your own pace - to build a connection that is strong enough for you to know that I won't judge you or make you bad or wrong for how you are feeling or for using certain behaviors to cope. It's what you've known to do up to this point, so let's put our heads together and find the ways that this has made sense so we can look at it from a place of compassion instead of judgment. This is a shame-free space! I hold a special place in my heart for those who are working towards eating disorder recovery who feel like they aren't sick enough because their body size, race, sexuality, or gender identity don't match what they are seeing on social media under the eating disorder hashtags. All identities are welcome here, and no matter what your circumstances, your concerns are valid, you ARE sick enough, and you deserve compassionate, equitable care. If anything I've said here makes you think "I like her vibe," please don't hesitate to reach out. I would love to chat further about what it would look like for us to work together.
