Welcome! My name is Maya (they/them) and I am a therapist at Sol Health and Love and Kindness Wellness Services. I’m here to create a warm and nonjudgemental space to share and explore your experiences. I look forward to walking with you toward wellness. I welcome integration of spirituality, creativity and cultural practices into session, centering your perspective, interests and passions. I utilize many methods to fit each person, including somatic techniques, DBT skills, psychodynamic and behavioral activation. I have a passion for working with C-PTSD and religious trauma, especially transgender and nonbinary survivors. If you are located in NY, I offer group and family therapy. Please visit the Love and Kindness website for more details. Each emotion that comes up will be greeted with openness, welcoming tears, laughter and anger. Together, we will build sustainable practices that align with your values and goals.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by emotions that are difficult to understand or express? Do you sometimes find yourself reacting in ways that feel unfamiliar, confusing, or even unsettling? You're not alone—and therapy can help. I offer a safe, supportive space for healing through a blend of Psychodynamic talk therapy and Art therapy, with my approach informed by DBT, CBT, and IFS. I believe in working collaboratively, honoring the pace of deep healing, and empowering your choices throughout the therapeutic process. My goal is to help you move from a place of survival toward resilience, self-understanding, and a sense of possibility.

I am a licensed clinical psychotherapist (LCSW) with extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults coping with a wide variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, challenging life circumstances, transitions, relationship issues, and trauma. I believe in treating each patient as an individual. I draw from many different treatment modalities in order to help patients better understand themselves and develop skills to cope with anxiety, stress, depression, and other emotional pressures. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where patients can talk openly and freely without fear of judgment. In this space patients can reflect on their experiences in order to better understand themselves, work towards their goals, and ultimately increase enjoyment of life.

Life can be chaotic, challenging and heartbreaking, but among all of that, beautiful and awe-inspiring. If you’re reading this, maybe you’ve already read a few of these therapist bios by now, but if you’re feeling alone in life’s big questions then look no further. I take a curious, yet “no-B.S.” stance as we explore life’s intricacies and curve-balls together in the therapeutic process. My experience with adolescents, emerging adults and older adults has helped me create a flexible approach to meet my clients where they’re at. Whether I am working with you, your child, or your family, I strive to create a judgment-free zone for my clients to experience the most authentic version of themselves. I lean on a client-centered approach, meaning that I give my clients the space to be the expert in their own lives. Through mindfulness and dialectical behavioral therapy, I help my clients to practice gaining distance from overwhelming thoughts, feelings and emotions. That being said, I recognize that there is no “one size fits all” approach and I collaborate with my clients along every step of the journey. Showing up to therapy isn’t always easy, and I value the courage and vulnerability that it takes to invite someone into your inner world. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, loneliness, OCD, depression, grief, heartbreak, or a case of “what does it all mean” you won’t be at it alone. Much like the contradictions we encounter in life, the work we will do together will be challenging yet rewarding. I’m currently accepting both virtual and in-person sessions and look forward to hearing from you!

You deserve to live a life with more joy, ease and confidence. Therapy doesn't have to be a one-sided relationship where you're mulling over your entire life's history and all of the pain! In fact, it can be an enjoyable process; a full, engaging relationship with humor, intellect, creativity, spark and curiosity. I'm a real person in the room with you. Together, we will explore solutions and new ways of thinking, feeling and acting. You and I can experiment in sessions to tap into resources or to find new tools to unburden you from emotional pain, whether that be with mindfulness, cognitive, somatic or creative techniques. With 15+ years of experience, many clients have reported positive changes from our work, including less anxiety, more awareness and clarity and healthier relationships. I also specialize working with ACoAs & Codependency. My first job in the field was working at a college counseling center so I'm also very familiar with working with the 18+ crowd and all of the hassles that can come with college living, relationships and school.

Being a student can bring a lot of pressure, uncertainty, and emotional weight. If you are feeling stuck, anxious, or carrying pain that is hard to explain, you are not alone. I am here to support you and help you make sense of what you are experiencing in a way that feels honest and respectful. My approach is trauma informed, queer affirming, and non-more pathologizing. I believe your symptoms make sense in the context of your experiences. Together we will explore those patterns with care and curiosity, not judgment. I draw from EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Eastern philosophy to support healing, growth, and connection to your values. This work is always shaped by you, your story, your pace, and your goals. If you are ready to begin or just curious about starting, I would be happy to connect.

If you find yourself constantly caught up in a cycle of overthinking & overachieving, seeking balance and centeredness in your life, I am here to help. Through therapy, we will explore strategies to calm the racing thoughts, ease the pressure of constant doing, and rediscover a sense of harmony within yourself. While we may not possess the ability to directly control our thoughts & feelings, we do hold the power to consciously choose our responses to these internal experiences. Together, we can navigate the challenges you face, while embracing laughter, acceptance, and an authentic connection that promotes growth & well-being. I specialize in treating OCD, anxiety, & perfectionism. I enjoy helping young adults navigate professional, social, & romantic challenges. Therapy should be tailored, not one-size-fits-all. That's why I adopt an integrative approach, drawing from the rich foundations of acceptance & commitment and cognitive-behavioral therapies for a comprehensive approach. Congratulations on starting this exciting journey of self-discovery! Whether you're well-versed in therapy or just starting out, my aim is to enhance your life & be a valuable support. I bring a compassionate curiosity, a sense of humor, & casual/conversational style. I'd love to hear from you and offer a complimentary consultation to answer questions
