I support adults navigating anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, grief, and life transitions. Anxiety can show up as racing thoughts, tension in the body, difficulty resting, or a persistent sense that something is wrong even when life looks fine on the outside. You do not have to manage this alone.

I work with relationship issues and sexuality, certified as a Relationship Therapist through the Gottman Institute of Seattle. I am also certified as a Sex Therapist through AASECT, the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists. Several years ago I realized I am autistic and now I address issues experienced by people who are autistic/ Asperger's or those who wonder whether they may carry that diagnosis. I also see people with other forms of neurodivergence such as ADHD. Originally I am from Boston and grew up in a working class family with a commitment to political activism. I am licensed in NY and FL as well as Oregon and Washington State. Although I offer some reduced fee spots I am sorry to say they are consistently full.

While I’ve worked with clients from all different kinds of communities, I’m particularly passionate about supporting young adults who are working through sexual shame, sexual trauma, social anxiety, neurodivergence, ethical non-monogamy, and those who identify as queer/BIPOC and/or men. I focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a strengths-based and healing focus & Narrative Therapy. Because pain and trauma are realities of our world, our past selves often inform our present relationships, even when we don’t want them to. Together we’ll work to help you understand and identify what parts of yourself show up in your life today. We’ll unpack your history and upbringing to discern how they’re potentially impacting your current relationships. We often feel like we’re “missing the mark” in our relationships - that despite all our efforts, we’re still falling short. Effectively communicating with your partner or other people in your life is a skill I’ll help you develop. Generally, my style of work is a mixture of collaborating with clients, while also challenging them to dig deeper. But above all, I approach my clients with gentleness, compassion, and I will always keep our focus on healing. I was raised in a conservative Christian environment where sex, sexuality, and gender were defined by my religion. This in turn created internalized feelings of shame about who I was. Since then, I’ve done a lot of educating and relearning to shape my identity into who I am today. As a black, brown, and queer woman, my identities inform my work and the way I show up for my clients and community. My desire is for you to feel empowered to be your authentic self and transform your relationship with sex and sexuality into a positive one. Cultivating a relationship built on trust with the people I collaborate with is something I value deeply. Having the ability to trust your therapist allows you to bring more of your true self to the table, which directly affects the quality of the work we’ll do together. I’ll work with you to build a mutual and trusting relationship, because a therapeutic relationship models relationships out in the world.

I am a licensed psychologist who specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders and relationship issues. Even more specifically, my specialty rests in helping women navigate the anxiety and overwhelm that arises when they think about saying no, setting boundaries, or expressing their true opinions. Many of my clients are exhausted from agreeing to things they don’t want to do, staying in relationships out of obligation or fear, or managing a busy social life that leaves them feeling unfulfilled and ultimately disconnected. As an attachment-based therapist, I work with women to uncover the roots of these patterns in their relationships, helping them get grounded in their values and build the courage to show up authentically. My approach helps to create context for conditioned behaviors and beliefs so that clients find their voice, face the fear of speaking their truth, and experience the freedom of being unapologetically themselves and more aligned with their values. I take a holistic approach to treatment, combining somatic work, nervous system regulation, and relational therapy. My work also incorporates nutrition and movement to support overall wellness, empowering clients to align their physical, emotional, and relational health. I completed my applied graduate training at Portland State University's Student Health and Counseling Center as a psychologist intern and was employed there as a part-time psychologist before opening my private practice. My residency was completed at Reed College Health and Counseling Center and I have also had the wonderful opportunity to complete early field work training at University of Portland's Health and Counseling Center. I love working with college students and it is a joy to be able to provide students with the opportunity for longer-term psychotherapy.

I specialize in supporting adults with anxiety, OCD, and trauma. I take a collaborative approach to therapy that incorporates individuality and the wisdom clients have about themselves, along with evidence-based approaches. I view my role as walking alongside you in your therapy journey to provide support in setting and accomplishing goals that are aligned with your values. I worked in 3 college counseling centers prior to working in private practice. As a queer, neurodivergent therapist, I particularly enjoy working with individuals also in these communities.

My passion lies in supporting people who may feel stuck, stagnant, or caught in repeating patterns, and who are ready to try something different. The journey forward isn’t always easy, but the support of a compassionate therapist can help you find your way. I strive to create a nurturing space where you can unpack your experiences, reflect deeply, and begin to explore, challenge, and redefine how you show up for yourself and in your life. I warmly welcome individuals of all identities, backgrounds, and orientations. My areas of expertise includes racial and cultural identity, intergenerational trauma, and the challenges of navigating multicultural or bicultural worlds, or those living at the intersections of multiple identities. I practice from a social justice, multicultural, trauma informed, and anti-oppressive framework, ensuring that our work together is inclusive, affirming, and compassionate. I strive to create a space where all parts of you are seen, heard, and valued. A space that honors the depth, complexity, and richness of your lived experience. I aim to create an environment that is respectful, supportive, and collaborative. My approach to therapy is primarily based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). A core idea in ACT is that trying too hard to get rid of or control our emotions tends to backfire. Thus, instead of trying to get rid of unwanted thoughts, feelings, or emotions, I will help you learn to react differently to them so that you can keep your focus on living a meaningful and fulfilling life based on what’s important to you. This type of approach places your values at the center of therapy. Using your values and existing strengths as a foundation, we will work together to set meaningful goals to address your concerns –whether they relate to life transitions, depression, anxiety, body image, grief/loss, job or academic stress, or gender and sexuality. I have extensive training in working with transgender and gender diverse adults, youth, and families. Transgender clients seeking assessment or counseling services can expect a safe space, and respectful, non-pathologizing, collaborative care. If you are looking for someone to work with regarding gender identity and exploration, I can provide education, support, preparation, and, if indicated, reports/letters for surgery.

My approach to counseling is collaborative, compassionate, patient, and kind. I will focus on understanding you where you are at without judgement, so that you can have greater acceptance of yourself and your experience, and be able to be vulnerable and honest with someone who cares as you navigate the challenges you face. I don't believe that there are any "quick fixes" in therapy - rather, I see counseling as more like a journey of lasting change, personal growth, and self-development, one that can be achieved in relationship with someone who can support you and your process. My work focuses on people at all stages of life who are working through developmental transitions (leaving home, starting or ending a relationship, experiencing big life changes, etc.) who want to better understand who they are, and how they can become the best version of themself using the strengths they have within themselves. I help people to understand themselves and their patterns so they can identify and gain insight about their thoughts, feelings, and identify blind-spots to be able to make choices and move forward in a direction that feels best for them.
