Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck in your head, struggling in relationships, or questioning who you are and where you're going, you’re not alone. College can bring a lot of pressure—academically, socially, and internally. I offer a warm, confidential space where you can slow down, make sense of what you're going through, and feel more like yourself again. Together, we’ll work to understand patterns that may be holding you back, build tools to manage stress and anxiety, and support you in developing a stronger sense of identity, confidence, and direction. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, more connected, and more able to navigate your life with clarity and self-trust.

*I am licensed in both Oregon and California, and can work with students who often travel between these two states.* When the difficult experiences from your past are still impacting you, it is hard to know what to do. You don’t feel like yourself anymore, and the people in your life are starting to notice. It’s coming out at school, in your relationships, in your mood. You might be thinking “I just want to move on with my life. Why can’t I just get over it already?” But no matter how many times you try to move on, you still feel stuck. You are not alone. I help people who have been through difficult childhood, sexual, and relationship experiences look at how their experiences have shaped them, and explore how to take back their lives from the memories that have burdened them for so long. Together, we will build a trusting relationship where you can feel safe enough to explore what happened in your life, the ways you have survived, and how to get unstuck so you can move toward a life that is ruled by you, and not by the past. I know reaching out to begin therapy can be an overwhelming experience. I offer a free 15-20 minute consultation, where you can share a bit about what you would like to work on, ask me any questions you may have, and we can determine whether I might be a good fit for your needs. Please feel free to visit my website to learn more and schedule a consultation. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

Welcome! I specialize in parts work, EMDR, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I can help you heal your nervous system, expand your emotional capacity, and relate more effectively. I work with adults who feel stuck in thoughts, emotions, or relationship patterns that just aren’t working. I also work with those struggling with a sudden stressor or those who want to work through past events. This can include things like trauma, depression, a challenging transition or the loss of a loved one, or low self-esteem and persistent self-criticism or doubt. You might feel the impact at work or in school, in your close relationships, or in your relationship with yourself. My collaborative approach integrates evidence-based therapy methods with compassion, humor, and attuned listening. I am directive as needed, provide structure, and welcome long silences, fast-paced intensity, and everything in between. Together, we will explore past experiences, patterns, and what is happening in the here and now to foster clarity, cultivate change, and increase satisfaction in your life and relationships. We will also practice concrete skills such as assertive communication, boundary setting, and emotion regulation. I find that most people who come to see me are ultimately longing for a sense of inner peace, personal agency, and meaningful connections. Change is possible. Let’s work towards it together. I offer a free 15-20 minute initial consultation call to go over questions and see if we might be a good fit.

At Sakura Counseling, we aspire to create an environment that is all inclusive and provides a safe space for diversity in all forms to untangle the challenges that have been holding you back from being authentically you. We are collaborative in our approach, holding high regard for your experience in your environment, paying close attention to the many systems of our society that play a part in perpetuating oppression. We believe in creating collaborative healing relationships where your therapist will work with you to figure out the changes you want to make, then create an attainable, realistic plan of healing. We will then prepare you for the changes to come and develop tools needed to successfully integrate those changes into your current environment. We believe that you are the expert of your experiences and needs, so throughout our collaboration, we aim to allow you to feel free of guilt and shame and safe to be wholly, authentically you as you gain strength of understanding, while building new methods to cope and overcome. As a group practice, we have the ability to provide therapy for most issues with specialized areas of Trauma, Social Justice, Multi-cultural concerns, Anxiety, Suicide, Grief and Loss, Domestic Violence, Couples Relationship Repair...just to name a few. I specialize in treating people who struggle with trauma, OCD, anxiety, and/or insomnia. I strive to help my patients reduce suffering and increase joy and connection by incorporating relevant science and research, humor, and compassion throughout the treatment process. The treatment process will involve gaining an understanding of your strengths and challenges, collaboratively developing goals for treatment, and implementing tools and skills learned in therapy to live a more fulfilling, effective, and meaningful life. Therapy with me will be more directive at times so that you feel empowered to confront challenging issues. For each area I specialize in, I use approaches that I’ve been extensively trained in and that have been proven to be effective for many people: EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy, or Prolonged Exposure for trauma, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure & Response Prevention for OCD and other anxiety disorders, and CBT-I for insomnia. I received my master’s and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from Pacific University. My experience as an Air Force veteran and former military psychologist has given me a wealth of experience providing the gold standard in trauma treatment.

I have one of the best jobs on the planet! Being asked and invited to be with someone in the process of healing and change is a true privilege and deeply meaningful to me. With over 14 years of experience working with students and young adults, I enjoy working with students from all backgrounds and a wide array of presenting concerns. Some of the areas I specialize in and frequently work with are: - Trauma recovery (particularly complex, developmental, and family trauma) - LGBTQIA2S+ students - Graduate and international students - Relationships (of all kinds) - Men's issues - Identity - Neurodivergence - Family-of-origin - Living in recovery I am passionate about social justice advocacy and supporting students in understanding and navigating their multiple, intersecting social identities. Students who I work with describe me as warm, caring, honest, and authentic. My therapy style is relational, process-focused, and experiential. This means that I will guide us in using the relationship between you and I as a space to support your growth and change. It also means that both the content of therapy (what we are talking about) and the process of therapy (what is happening as we are talking and interacting) are both important for us to engage with. Lastly, it means that I will offer activities ("exploring by doing") that will help you learn more about yourself, develop new choices, and have new experiences in support of your therapy goals. If something here interests you and you’d like to explore working together, I’d love to hear from you!

Feeling alone, gripped in anxiety and despair and other painful emotions, you might not think that anyone could possibly understand or help. As an experienced mental health professional, I know how to listen to your unique story and how to help you disentangle from the symptoms that are holding you back. Using intuitive listening skills and coming from a place of deep empathy, I will work with you, teaching you how to integrate new thinking and being skills into your life. Using Acceptance and Integration Training and depth psychotherapy, along with my extensive experience with a wide variety of people, I will help you feel better and get back on your feet towards living the life you want. I aim to help you discover your own unique inner wisdom, building awareness and emotional health for life. I work with each client individually and collaboratively to create long-term and short-term goals. For many clients the goals often include disentangling from anxiety and depression symptoms. This includes building new skills and habits that can be used on a daily basis to feel good and to prevent the symptoms from reoccurring. My clients report feeling peaceful, powerful, whole, hopeful and grounded after a session of Acceptance and Integration techniques.

When people come to treatment with problems, it is important to remember that they are trying to cope with them in the best way they can. With that in mind, I offer a reflective and engaging partnership with my clients, working toward the goal of helping them to be autonomous, authentic and compassionate in a world that can be extremely stressful. Although my work is solidly grounded in psychodynamic, cognitive/learning, and systems theories, my approach is client-centered, practical and strengths-based. I bring honesty, warmth, and humor to the therapy relationship. I am LGBTQ affirmative and invested in doing cross-cultural therapy which is culturally sensitive. I have a dog, Bracket, who works with me, and I have been doing AAT since 2002. There is a growing body of research which suggests that AAT (Animal-Assisted Therapy) can be helpful with a range of diagnoses, including Depression, PTSD, and Autistic Spectrum. Many therapists know little about online games such as World of Warcraft and Second Life. They may dismiss it as unimportant, or assume it is a problem. I am a gamer-affirmative therapist, meaning I’m more interested in understanding your in-world experience and activity than pathologizing it.

Find Your Balance. Discover Your Voice. Be a work in progress. College can be exciting—but also overwhelming. Whether you’re navigating new independence, academic pressure, relationship changes, or figuring out who you want to be in the world, therapy can give you the tools and space to grow. I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience helping people make sense of their inner world. My approach blends logic and curiosity (thanks to my background in Philosophy) with a deep respect for how our emotions, body, and even the unconscious shape our daily lives. You might find us exploring your thoughts through Socratic dialogue, diving into dreamwork, connecting with symbols and stories like The Hero’s Journey, or looking at how your brain makes decisions from a neuro-economics perspective. If you’re ready to explore not just *what* you’re feeling, but *why*, and learn how to bring your hidden patterns into the light, I’ll walk alongside you—helping you meet yourself with more clarity, compassion, and confidence.
